You will support evolving the state-of-the-art in binary analysis for vulnerability identification.  You must relish the challenge of findings critical vulnerabilities in large scale software binaries through automation of analysis. Creativity is highly valued; being able to find novel vulnerabilities is essential in this role.

Work You’ll Do

As a member of our team, you will work independently or side-by-side within a team structure to develop and deliver practical solutions.  You will be responsible for designing, implementing and testing binary analyses focusing on vulnerability detection across a variety of architectures and platforms.   

What You’ll Bring

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or related field (e.g. Electrical Engineering) or related relevant experience2+ years of relevant experience in vulnerability security researchMust be legally authorized to work in Australia without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the futureExperience working in a large cloud or Internet software companyExperience navigating and working with extremely large codebases Proven experience with security research including any published CVEsExperience developing proof of concept exploits bypassing modern exploit mitigationsActive participant or organiser of Capture the Flag competitionsKnowledge of common vulnerabilities in different types of software and programming languages, including:Reverse engineering across various architectures and platforms; including x86/64, ARMExperience with disassemblers and decompilers (IDA Pro, Binary Ninja, or Ghidra)Ability to automate reversing tasks, using the headless capabilities (and internal representations) of the toolingSoftware development using C or C++A personality and communication skills that inspire teams and team members

Nice to Have

Knowledge of common exploitation countermeasures and their bypasses (CFI, NX, ASLR, etc.)Researching operating system and applications to understand strengths and weaknesses in their design and implementationHow to test for/exploit themReal world mitigations that can be appliedFamiliarity with vulnerability classification frameworks (e.g. OWASP Top 10)
