Rotating weekends and holidays are required.
As a Security Officer, you'll play a vital role in creating and maintaining a safe environment for our patients, visitors, and staff. From patrolling hospital grounds and monitoring alarms to assisting with disputes and responding to emergencies, your presence will help ensure the safety of all who enter our facilities. In this role, there will be the opportunity to-
+ Staff fixed posts to monitor ingress and egress to secured areas.
+ Provide customer service to patients, families, visitors, and staff to maintain a safe and secure environment.
+ Inspect incoming and outgoing parcels to prevent theft.
+ Respond to and resolve problems, disputes, and unusual circumstances as necessary.
+ Maintain required certifications, licensing, and complete all mandatory training programs.
+ Assist with traffic control, vehicle assists, patient escorts, and stand-by details.
+ Transport deceased individuals to the morgue and release bodies as required.
+ Monitor and respond to security, fire, and environmental alarms, providing assistance when needed.
+ Establish a uniformed presence by patrolling hospital buildings and grounds to deter criminal activity and contact law enforcement when necessary.
+ Operate UPMC vehicles in compliance with all applicable state and local motor vehicle laws.
Required:
+ High level of integrity required for handling sensitive/confidential UPMC information.
+ Must possess strong interpersonal skills, especially the ability to effectively interact, communicate, and diffuse potential combative situations with persons from all walks of life.
+ Psychological fitness required to deal with stress and potentially dangerous conflict situations.
+ Physical fitness requirements to deal with typical physical demands that require full body motion and physical strength and stamina sufficient to respond to crisis interventions and medical emergencies.
+ Be able to effectively communicate both orally and in written format.
+ Good interpersonal skills; able to deal with stress and potentially dangerous conflict situations.
+ All applicants will be subject to a thorough background and criminal record check
+ Must be available for all shifts.
+ Officers are required to wear a bullet proof vest.
+ Employees covered by a collective bargaining agreement should consult the applicable collective bargaining for specific requirements.
Preferred:
+ High School diploma or equivalent.
+ Security/military experience/education.
**Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:**
+ New York Security Guard License under Article 7A of the General Business Laws Federal Bureau of Investigation
+ Criminal History Record Clearance every 60 months
+ Valid Driver's License
+ Must meet audio standards
+ Must meet visual standards
+ Successfully pass UPMC Physical Fitness Standard prior to hire.
+ Required Personality Test
+ Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
+ Comprehensive Crisis Management (CCMC)
+ Driver's License
+ Security Guard Unarmed NY
