What You’ll Do

At Cisco Security Services, we partner with public and private sector organisations across the Canberra region to deliver comprehensive security solutions throughout the entire lifecycle—advisory, integration, and managed services. Leveraging Cisco’s industry-leading security products, we drive tangible outcomes for our customers, addressing their most critical and complex security challenges.

As a Security Architect based in Canberra, you’ll play a leading role in transforming customer environments through architectural and thought leadership, and by delivering major security engagements. You’ll be responsible for conceptualising solutions (Customer Requirements Document), advising on best practices, planning (Implementation Strategy Plan), and designing (High Level Design) enterprise security architecture and operations solutions. You’ll also help identify new business opportunities, support sales and account teams, and mentor security consulting engineers. You’ll contribute to the ongoing development and enhancement of Cisco’s security service offerings.

Joining our Canberra-based team, you’ll collaborate with a group of highly skilled security professionals who are passionate about tackling emerging security challenges in both government and enterprise environments. You’ll work closely with Cisco’s local and national teams, as well as our valued customers across the ACT.

Who You Are

We’re seeking experienced Security Architects with a proven record in Security Operations and Security Architecture, ideally gained within the Australian public sector, defence, or large enterprise environments. You’ll possess strong consulting skills and a deep technical understanding of security, networking, and compliance.

You will be expected to:

Understand and translate business requirements and processes into tailored security architecture solutions for Canberra-based organisations, including Federal Government agencies.Act as a trusted advisor, demonstrating expertise in enterprise security architecture and security operations, with strong knowledge across at least two security domains.Integrate security solutions with existing government or enterprise infrastructure, including the identification and integration of third-party products.Architect, deliver, and enhance Cisco security solutions, providing thought leadership and influencing customer outcomes.Lead delivery of security solutions independently and as part of multidisciplinary engineering teams.Contribute to national and global collaboration within Cisco’s security practice, and work cross-functionally with other Cisco business units.Ensure delivery aligns with industry standards, methodologies, and government frameworks.Oversee and report on security service engagements, engaging with both technical and executive stakeholders.Identify and support new business opportunities as Canberra organisations undertake digital transformation.Assist in developing proposals and statements of work, accurately scoping engagements.Support Cisco’s Account Teams and Business Development Managers in growing our security services footprint in Canberra.

Role Requirements:

Australian Citizenship (essential, due to Federal Government customer requirements)NV1 or NV2 Security Clearance (or the ability and willingness to obtain)Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related discipline (preferred)Extensive technical expertise in security, with deep market and business understandingDemonstrated experience in Security Operations Centre (SOC) architecture, SOC platforms, and security/enrichment platformsExperience with automation and orchestration toolsAbility to design and implement custom SOC use casesStrong knowledge of at least two additional security domains (e.g., OT, Network, Cloud Security, DevSecOps)Industry certifications such as ITIL, COBIT5, TOGAF, CISSP, SecOps, or relevant experience with containers, cloud, databases, or open source technologies10+ years’ experience in IT Security, Consulting, or Systems Integration, working with major enterprise or government clientsProven leadership in complex programs or projectsProgram/project management experienceAbility to engage with senior business leaders as well as technology teams, with an understanding of public sector business drivers
