Security Analyst (SOC)
Position Description:

We are looking for a Security Analyst to join our shift-based Security Operations Centre (SOC) in Melbourne.

As cyber threats grow more complex and automated, so do we. Our SOC is at the heart of CGI’s cyber defence strategy, operating around the clock to help protect critical systems across Australia. We’re growing our team and looking for individuals ready to build practical cybersecurity experience and grow with us.

This role is ideal for someone early in their cybersecurity journey who is looking to build hands-on skills and progress into more specialised areas, whether in threat intelligence, automation, incident response or cloud security.

You’ll work alongside experienced analysts and gain broad exposure to tools, technologies, and real-world incidents, with clear pathways to develop your career in cyber.

Your future duties and responsibilities:

• Monitor and triage security events using playbooks, SIEM tools, and case management systems
• Respond to alerts, identify false positives, and escalate incidents for further investigation
• Collaborate with senior analysts and subject matter experts to resolve incidents and improve detection capabilities
• Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of runbooks and operational procedures
• Assist in monthly reporting and participate in threat and trend analysis activities
• Stay informed on emerging threats and engage in training to expand your technical skills
• Gain hands-on experience with tools and platforms such as:
- Splunk, Microsoft Sentinel
- Defender, CrowdStrike
- Red Hat, AWS, Azure
- Security Orchestration, Automation and Response (SOAR) platforms

Required qualifications to be successful in this role:

• Formal qualifications or experience in cybersecurity, or a related discipline
OR
• A strong interest in cybersecurity and a desire to understand how cyber threats operate

• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Analytical and problem-solving capabilities
• Ability to remain calm and effective in a fast-paced, team-based environment
• Willingness to work a shift-pattern within a team environment that will include both days and nights, on rotation
• Australian Permanent Residency (minimum requirement)

Additionally, experience with any of the following would be advantageous:
• ITSM tools
• Security products such as firewalls, endpoint protection, etc.
• SIEM technologies
• System administration experience
• TAFE cybersecurity diploma/certification or similar
