Based in Cranfield, Bedfordshire, NTCE (Nissan Technical Centre, Europe) is our UK Research and Development hub. We are home to the functions that help us lead the way in vehicle design and development of the vehicles manufactured in our European plants. Purpose
We are seeking a Legal Section Manager to be based at Nissan Technical Centre Europe on a 12 month fixed term maternity cover contract.
Main Tasks & Responsibilities
Provide legal support to ensure the Company complies with key European regulations and anticipate as much as possible the implementation of such regulations related to emissions CO2 activities
Handling and tracking of large-scale litigations
Informing and reporting to Management and relevant stakeholders on key topics in area of responsibility, including MCC forums reporting and material litigations; including liaison with relevant Nissan teams (legal or other) and management of the litigations with the external counsels in charge.
Providing general legal support to the Nissan relevant functions and other Legal team members in relation to the matters captioned above
Delivering training sessions
Other tasks, as assigned.
Skills & Experience
The Legal Section Manager should have the following skills or experience:
Qualified Solicitor (on the SRA Solicitors Register)
LLB (Hons) Law Degree or equivalent
7 to 10 years of experience as an in-house legal department preferably or in a law firm with either a litigation profile or a generalist profile in business/commercial law and preferably, in an international environment
Strong knowledge in contract drafting and negotiation
Strong communication skills and ability to present and exchange with executives
Ability to work with various departments in a cross-functional manner and on projects covering several countries
High sense of coordination, organization and logistics
Creative problem-solving, strong general business orientation and curiosity
Team management in order to foster employee engagement, motivation and development
Assisting in evaluating the effectiveness of strategic initiatives and suggesting adjustments when necessary
Be self-motivating, self-managing, pro-active and positive.
Microsoft Office skills
Interest and knowledge in automotive industry, mobility solutions and innovation in general with customer-centric mindset
