Job summary – What to expect: 

As a Section Leader of our UK Packaging team, you will lead, motivate, and manage within the operational area to ensure KPI’s, internal and external customer requirements, performance targets, quality and safety standards are all met and where possible exceeded. Other roles and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

In conjunction with the Department Manager, design strategies in line with the operational VMOST to further advance the department and the wider business. Review all aspects of the department to ensure compliance with company and departmental procedures (including Health & Safety and GMP). Participate in internal and external audits as required to ensure compliance to relevant AVSEC/SOX/ISO/MHRA/FDA/KPMG requirements. Investigation of NCR’s and CAPA’S. Carry out performance reviews with your direct reports (Team Leaders) and set objectives where appropriate. Manage the preparation and maintenance of reports necessary to carry out the functions of the department. Prepare monthly reports for management, as necessary or requested, to track strategic goal accomplishment. Promote a culture of operational excellence and continuous improvement by working closely with the Continuous Improvement team.  Be aware of the overall operational, budgetary, and financial responsibilities and activities of the department, and help to promote a cost saving philosophy. Develop a fully integrated team culture through regular and open communication channels for example quarterly departmental update briefs, by use of BLINK (the company’s employee communication app), regular one to ones with Team Leaders, whilst providing an environment of trust and fairness through respect for others. Full understanding of all relevant employee relations procedures including absence management, disciplinary, grievance, flexible working, recruitment and inductions liaising with the Human Resources Department when required to achieve the appropriate outcome.  Collate information for Payroll and ensure that it is received by them in a timely manner.

About you:

 

Able to identify process waste (TIMWOODS), suggest ideas for improvement and actively participate and support CI activities and Kaizen Events. Actively initiate, lead and support CI projects and are responsible for updating the Departmental Project Master Tracker.  Able to support the whole team reducing and eliminating process waste and implementing changes. Proven leadership, management skills and experience gained from a fast paced, multi shift environment. Ability to read and understand data driven reports to enable key business decisions. A good working knowledge of Microsoft Office including Outlook, Excel and Word. Knowledge of typical company Health and Safety practices  Ability to practice a high level of confidentiality Knowledge of key operational and Management Systems for example Baan/WMS/WCS and experience in leading external audits is desired, but not essential.

 

Work Environment

Working environment is a large open plan warehouse / factory building. Likely to work in an office-based environment for 75% of role, 25% of role on shop floor When on the shop floor there is constant background noise from the operation of various packaging and picking machinery. Temperatures in the warehouse can fluctuate due to seasonal variations. PPE may be required at times
