Job Description An employer is looking for a Traveling Network Technician. This candidate will have to be comfortable traveling to various military bases and sites to complete their day-to-day responsibilities. This candidate, alongside a team, will be responsible for surveying, installing, documenting, and troubleshooting network equipment. This is accomplished through projects such as new installations, life cycle replacement projects, and Cable Plant and wireless installations that are compliant with commercial, TEMPEST, and NIST standards. The team will build and install equipment racks, install, dress, label, and terminate Cat6 and Fiber cable in telecommunications rooms, and test and troubleshoot network infrastructure issues on SIPR and NIPR networks. Before and after installation, this candidate should be able to analyze, test, troubleshoot, and evaluate existing network systems like servers, routers, and switches. This person should be able to create accurate reports and documentation to design/certify network infrastructure, track, manage, and ensure project tasks are completed in a timely manner. In addition, they will develop Bills of Material (BOM) for network plant design requirements, plan and perform preventive maintenance and scheduled upgrades (life-cycle replacements), investigate physical faults in the network, and report network infrastructure deployment status to key stakeholders. Compensation: $38/hr to $42/hr. Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education. Skills and Requirements Must hold an active Secret security clearance Bachelor's degree and 4 years of relevant experience; additional years of experience may be substituted in lieu of a degree Security + Certification Proficiency with enterprise-class Voice over IP technologies and other IP/transport specific management tools (EMS) and general practices. Expertise in IP technologies and principles, i.e. Networking architectures and methodologies. Proficiency in at least one of the following tools: SolarWinds or Junos Space. Knowledge of DISA network topologies and standards. Topology and rack elevations using Visio.
