Seasonal Trainee - Forward Planning

We work across a range of project types—from small infill development and residential landscapes, to masterplanned communities filled with fully programmed parks [clubhouses, pools, pickleball, playgrounds, etc]. We are currently seeking a creative and motivated landscape architecture/planning student to join us as a community design intern.

Position Overview:

As a forward planning seasonal trainee, you will work alongside experienced designers, drafters, and project managers/acquisitioners to support the development of subdivision projects across the state of Utah through various phases of design. This is a hands-on opportunity to contribute to real-world projects and gain practical experience in a collaborative work environment.

Responsibilities:

• Assist in site analysis, conceptual design, and schematic development

• Support the preparation of drawings, diagrams, renderings, and presentations

• Conduct research on zoning and code requirements

• Participate in design charrettes, team and city meetings

• Help produce landscape plans for internal and city approvals

• Visit project sites as needed to support design development

Qualifications:

• Currently enrolled in an accredited Landscape Architecture program (BLA or MLA) or similar

• Proficiency in software such as AutoCAD, LandF/X, Adobe Creative Suite, SketchUp

• Familiarity with hand drawing and digital rendering techniques

• Strong plant knowledge in hardiness zones 5-7

• Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills

• A portfolio that demonstrates design thinking and technical skills of 2D and 3D software

Preferred Qualifications

Possess basic computer knowledge and some experience using computersKnowledge of computer applications a plus
