GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
Wyoming's State Parks, Historic Sites, and Trails Division's Off-Road Vehicle (ORV) Program is authorized to hire 4 seasonal Trail Ambassadors. These ambassadors will provide important summer services for the State ORV Trails Program. The major employment season is June through October 2025. However, some positions may start earlier and end later in the season. The work location will be based out of Lander/Dubois.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function that may be performed in the job level.
+ Assist personnel with trail clearing, light maintenance, and visitor education contacts consistent with State and Federal regulations.
+ Must be willing to learn federal, state, and local regulations.
+ Assist in the planning and construction of State Trails grant projects.
+ Assist in the signing and marking of travel routes.
+ Assist with inhibiting the use of user-created routes.
+ Provide excellent customer service when relaying general recreation information.
+ Provide trail users with detailed information about travel, safety, and responsible recreation.
+ Provide monthly contact reports.
+ Perform minor trail maintenance, tree clearing, pruning, and various construction projects.
Qualifications
PREFERENCES/**AGENCY REQUIREMENTS:
Preference may be given to applicants with some college coursework in an outdoor recreation-related field.
**Must have a valid driver's license.
**Must be at least 18 years of age.
KNOWLEDGE:
+ Knowledge and ability to safely operate all types of ORVs
+ Knowledge and experience in the safe operation of all types of bumper pull and gooseneck trailers, including proper hookup, backing, and tie-down of a variety of loads
+ Excellent customer service skills
+ Knowledge and ability to use hand tools safely and efficiently.
+ Skill and experience in problem-solving and handling many priorities.
+ Ability to comprehend and apply state and federal statutes.
+ Knowledge of reading weather patterns.

Necessary Special Requirements
PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
+ Ability to work outside in all weather conditions with minimal protection from the elements.
+ Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds, with or without assistance.
+ Must be willing to work a flexible schedule that may include weekends and holidays.
NOTES:
+ FLSA: Non-exempt
+ Seasonal positions require irregular hours of work, including weekends, holidays, and evenings.
