The Scientist III, Molecular Biology is responsible for leading technical exploration and finding effective solutions for improving molecular diagnostic products in transplant medicine. This role requires self-motivation and the ability to connect individual tasks to larger goals.
Responsibilities:
Assist in crafting and completing feasibility studies to explore novel ideasValidate and record newly developed processes and protocols.Responsible for understanding and performing daily testing of reagents for extent, improvement, and troubleshooting HLA gene typing products or related issues.Handle and maintain laboratory environment and equipment needed to carry out assigned projects.Prepare SOPs, study plans, reports, and other internal documents as well as maintain/update current SOPs for existing products.Actively participate in meetings and technical problem solvingAssist in project planning, supervise the progress, prepare and present summary reportsFunction as a lead for time-sensitive projects and provide support to the team to achieve the best resultsConduct literature search, proactively monitor relevant diagnostic market, proactively seek opportunities for innovation, and write proposals for grants or manuscripts for publicationKeys to Success
Education and Experience: :
Bachelors in Biological Sciences, Molecular Bio or a related field AND 3+ years of laboratory experience in an academic or R&D industrial environment. OR Master's in Biological Sciences, Molecular Bio or a related field AND 2+ years of laboratory experience in an academic or R&D industrial environment. PhD degree are also considered, with a minimum of 1 year of laboratory experience in an academic, post-doc, or R&D industrial environment.Accountability:
Maintain confidentiality of critical laboratory and business data.Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
Knowledge of molecular biology and recombinant DNA techniquesIn depth knowledge of Luminex and SSO technologyStrong understanding of molecular biology and relevant techniques such as DNA isolation and quantification, gene amplification methods, quantitative PCR, sequencing, and other relevant technologiesExperience with primer and probe designsStrong problem-solving skills. Experience in crafting experiments and interpreting data and addressing issues to improve product performance with innovative solutions.Ability to collaborate with diverse groups of peopleAbility to support process improvement, customer inquiries, staff training as neededWell-developed written skills to prepare regular and routine reports, reviews, and white papers, as well as preparing presentations to a variety of audiencesCompensation and Benefits
The salary range estimated for this position based in California is $91,700.00–$137,525.00.This position may also be eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy.
