For the AIMS (Analytical Innovation & Mass Spectrometry) team in the Biologics Analytical R&D Department at AbbVie’s Ludwigshafen site in Germany, we are seeking an enthusiastic scientist to conduct hands-on analytical development and characterizations of biologics and peptides by mass spectrometry. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced bench scientist with a strong background in analytical development and deeper understanding of protein and peptide characterization.

Your tasks and responsibilities

You will work hands on in the lab and Characterize proteins and peptides by mass spectrometry (e.g. reduced and non-reduced peptide mapping-LC-MS, intact denatured MS, native MS)You will critically assess your data and write reports to sum up your analytical resultsYou will present and discuss your data in group meetings
Qualifications
Scientist I: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent education with typically 5 years of experience, or master’s degree or equivalent education in chemistry, biochemistry or a related field with typically two years of experience.Scientist II: BS or equivalent education with typically 7 or more years of experience or MS or equivalent education in chemistry, biochemistry or a related field with typically 5 or more years of experience.You have extensive knowledge in the characterization of proteins and peptides by mass spectrometryYou have hands-on experience in operating HPLC-MS instrumentation including troubleshootingYou like to drive scientific initiatives, and you are eager to present and discuss your results in group or project meetingsExperience in excipient analysis and classical physico-chemical analytical methods is a plus (e.g. IEX, SEC, icIEF, HIC, HILIC)As a highly motivated, self-driven and results-oriented person with excellent communication and presentation skills you are driven by innovative ways of thinking to improve processes, methods, systems, products or services.You are well known to be an excellent team player with the ability to build strong networks with peersAs a global acting company we presume excellent communication skills, including written and oral English and basic knowledge of German.
