Scientist I (fixed term contract)

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced science professional who can independently design and lead laboratory-based workstreams. This individual will translate project goals into actionable experimental plans and generate data that drive the advancement of our research programs.

As a Scientist I at IFF you will be part of the Tilburg Analytical Services R&D group, focused on delivering high quality analytical solutions and results to support IFF R&D projects and commercial initiatives.  You will be part of a team conducting cutting-edge analytical chemistry research for taste and scent to drive continued business growth at IFF. 

In this temporary position, you will conduct laboratory bench experiments in the area of analytical research and support including LC, IC, LC/MS, GC-FID, and GC/MS analysis.

Daily activities include preparation of samples for analysis, instrumental acquisition and interpretation of data in a timely matter. The ability to solve small technical problems and work independently is also expected.

Being at the forefront of taste and scent analysis requires sufficient understanding of relevant analytical tools and methods. This position is for an associate scientist with significant skills and interests in bench-level technical work and requires understanding of key analytical techniques such as chromatography (GC and LC), mass spectrometry and lab automation.

The position is on-site (anchored) at the IFF site located in Tilburg, Netherlands.

Key Responsibilities:

Conduct laboratory bench analytical work as required including (automated) sample preparation, data acquisition using LC, IC, LC-MS, GC-FID and GC-MS analysis

Sample preparation, data interpretation and data reporting.

Contribute to the development and improvement of analytical approaches

Work independently under supervision

(Time-) management of assigned tasks

Requirements:

The successful candidate will have:

BS (HBO) degree with 3-4 years of appropriate experience or MSc degree with 1-2 years of appropriate experience

Demonstrated expertise in sample preparation, chromatography and mass spectrometry

Good written and oral communication skills

Affinity with automation and computers

Fluent in English language

Basic in Dutch language

Preferred:

Demonstrated expertise in automated workflows / sample preparation

Fluent in Dutch language
