Position Summary: The Laboratory Scientist I, will perform routine compound processing tasks and lab quality verification supporting compound weighing lists, processing, and the entering of new compounds & returns. Perform compound inventories to verify database information. Maintain the laboratory in a clean and neat manner, monitor compound storage conditions, and assist with disposal of hazardous and/or chemical wastes. This position will monitor fiscal responsibility for daily operations while delivering services within the defined metrics and pricing. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Fulfills daily shipping lists including pulling and weighing samples from compound stock containers, completing lists on the processing system, labeling samples, and performing quality inspections for compound pull lists.Adhere to all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and facility safety guidelines.Provide information and implement procedural improvements.Recognize and accurately segregate hazardous substances for storage/disposal and assist with hazardous labeling of chemical waste.Assist in the validation of chemical structures in the chemistry database and other data within the Drug Information System (DIS).Safely store, handle, and dispose compounds in accordance with OSHA and EPA regulations taking into consideration compound stability, hazards, and potential chemical interactions.Participate in Tier board and collaboration meetings.Continue to be cross-trained in other aspects of the business.Support the Acquisitions Manager and be available to provide backup services.Mentor and coach other team members, providing professional development through meeting contract goals.Stay current with relevant technologies, regulatory issues, safety protocols, and scientific literature to identify new approaches and ways to increase efficiencies.Education/Experience:BS Degree in chemistry or equivalent experienceThree years of industry experience or related science which provides knowledge of laboratory workWork Schedule0800 – 1700 core hours, no remote working
Work ConditionsAbility to work in chemical warehouse environment with strong odor.Work in cold environments with exposure to dry ice, hazardous materials.Adhere to all safety protocols and proceduresAbility to work standing for up to 8 hoursAbility to use a computer up to 6 hours per dayCompensation and Benefits
The salary range estimated for this position based in Maryland is $58,600.00–$87,850.00.This position may also be eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy.
