**The Job You Will Perform:**
The Global Cellulose Fibers Business is seeking an experienced chemist to support analytical testing for our Innovation Center in Federal Way, WA. This hands-on role is responsible for safely planning, conducting, and documenting laboratory work needed to analyze complex sample matrices. Includes operation of a broad range of laboratory equipment and procedures.
This position reports to the Analysis and Testing manager.
Key duties for this position include the following:
+ Plan, conduct, and document experimental work that meets the data and information needs of our customers
+ Summarize and interpret experimental data to arrive at and communicate facts and data-based results and conclusions
+ Work productively and collaboratively in a cross-functional team setting to meet new product development and technical support project objectives
+ Function in a team setting and as an individual analyst
+ Flow to work and easily adapt to changing priorities based on business needs
+ Recognize safety issues and recommend solutions
+ Engage and participate in safety programs, trainings, and inspections
+ Contribute to new ideas and concepts
**The Qualifications, Skills and Knowledge You Will Bring:**
+ Bachelor’s degree in chemistry or related discipline with broad knowledge of analytical laboratory techniques
+ 5+ years of experience in a laboratory setting
+ Experience with hazardous waste management and associated certifications are desired
+ Ability to work safely with hazardous chemicals to prepare and analyze samples
+ Ability to work productively in a cross-functional team environment
+ Ability to analyze, summarize, and communicate technical data using MS Office software.
+ Excellent planning, critical thinking, and decision making skills
+ Be able to lift 2-20 pounds regularly, stand or work up to 8 hours at a time (10-13 hours when necessary)

**About Global Cellulose Fibers (GCF):**
Our GCF business helps customers transform renewable cellulose fibers into essential everyday products. Our high-quality, superior grade pulps form the basis for diverse applications, ranging from personal care items to specialty materials. We create components for diapers, tissues and feminine care products, as well as sustainable materials for the textile and construction industry. In 2024, IP announced a strategic review of options for the GCF business in keeping with its strategy of focusing on sustainable packaging solutions, which will allow GCF to fully unlock its capabilities to deliver enhanced service and product performance to its customers.
