Your Role:

At MilliporeSigma, as a Scientist 1 - Virology, you will lead and support the development and commercial application of innovative biosafety testing services. You will oversee study design and execution in BSL-3 and BSL-2 laboratories, ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards. Your responsibilities include interpreting and reporting study results while upholding scientific integrity in all laboratory work. It is essential to ensure that studies adhere to accepted professional and industry standards. Additionally, you must maintain a comprehensive understanding of the company’s testing services, technical principles, and their relevant applications.

 

Complete the necessary training to access and work in the BSL-3 laboratory.Perform testing in accordance with SOPs and regulations (cGMP and GLP) in BSL-2 and BSL-3 laboratories.Act as a subject matter expert (SME) for specific areas of the CTS business.Apply laboratory techniques and skills to conduct experiments addressing various specific problems performing testing in accordance with SOPs and regulations (cGMP and GLP).Independently apply basic scientific principles in the design of experiments and assay development.Maintain complete and comprehensive records to ensure study integrity and make detailed observations, document results, and perform data analysis.Operate and maintain lab equipment as required by SOPs and testing procedures.Utilize applicable computer programs during testing and routine tasks (e.g., Word, Excel, Oracle, LIMS, BRIQS).Employ problem-solving and troubleshooting skills and lead the completion of event records.Liaise with Quality Assurance and relevant cross-functional departments to address events and corrective actions identified during GxP laboratory testing.Maintain a working knowledge of lab procedures and assays.Create and revise SOPs, laboratory records, and related documentation as assigned.Write technical reports for internal use and collaborate on papers for external publication.Train laboratory personnel as needed or assigned.Contribute ideas and suggestions to enhance standard laboratory techniques, protocols, processes, and equipment.

 

Who You Are

 

Minimum Qualifications:

 

Ph.D. in scientific discipline (e.g. Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, etc.), with two 1+ years of laboratory experience.Master’s Degree in a scientific discipline (e.g. Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, etc.), with 2+ years of laboratory experience.Bachelor’s Degree in a scientific discipline (e.g. Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, etc.), with 5+ years of laboratory experience.

 

 

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in aseptic techniques, cell cultures, virology, infectivity, transduction and titration.Experience with scientific laboratory practices, techniques, equipment, materials, and advanced mathematical calculations.Strong knowledge of laboratory regulations, quality assurance, and compliance standards.Contribute immediately with little training and supervision performing cell-based assays detecting and characterizing viruses.Strong verbal and written communication. Excellent time management skills with ability to support multiple high-complexity projects at one time.Highly collaborative, technically competent and independent.Ability to drive team projects, make key decisions and establish timelines.Proficient in design of experiments

 

Pay Range for this position - $80,000/yr - $146,500/yr

The offer range represents the anticipated low and high end of the base pay compensation for this position. The actual compensation offered will be determined by factors such as location, level of experience, education, skills, and other job-related factors. Position may be eligible for sales or performance-based bonuses. Benefits offered by the Company include health insurance, paid time off (PTO), retirement contributions, and other perquisites.
