= Objectives =
• Lead & manage synthesis lab for Home Care and Industrial Formulator product development AP
• Build up and maintain know how and capabilities on radical polymerization and polycondensation reactions for regional product development AP
• Evaluation and development of new technologies according to regional market needs AP

= Main Tasks =
Synthesis & Support of R&D Projects
• As a specialist in organic and polymer synthesis provide broad overview and deep understanding of synthesis know how as well as analytical methods and interpretation thereof
• Development of structure-property relationship and transfer of customer demand of product properties into a chemical structure and optimized synthesis thereof
• Drive and execute lab safety including chemical storage and handling as well as safety regulations by BASF and national authorities
• Provide overview on industrial chemical production methods, especially on BASF production technologies and experienced in transfer of lab results into production
• Application of projects based on own ideas/ observations according to market needs as well as tech push and push successfully through Gates 1 to 5/6
• Problem-Solution-Thinking: project acquisition by self-recognizing technical challenges (in alignment with marketing colleagues) and coming up with own solutions which passes Gates 1-5
• Interfaces: local production including tollers, regional and global development and as well as regional AT-TS, external institutes & academia
• People Management: lead, manage and develop lab team members via development plans, coaching, training on their jobs and execute highest safety standards as well as result-oriented working and reporting, including lab management


= Job Requirements =
• PhD in organic polymer synthesis and/or surfactant synthesis
• PhD in Synthesis with minimum 3years working experience (including 3 years PhD study experiences) OR Master in Chemistry or any relevant program with minimum 5 years of experiences OR Bachelor of Chemistry or any relevant program with minimum 8 years of experiences
• Professional English speaking & writing as well as presentation skills, scientific thinking and methodology
