Job Description
We are seeking a talented and highly motivated Scientist and Lab Manager to join our Research Oncology team. Our collaborative and interdisciplinary research department utilizes state-of-the-art technologies and innovative methodologies to advance medicines into the clinic. The successful candidate will contribute to our efforts aimed at discovering and developing novel therapeutic agents to address the unmet medical needs of cancer patients.
In this hybrid role, the new hire will both help to manage Research Oncology laboratories, ensuring a safe and productive operating environment, and provide scientific support for several key laboratory activities, such as cell culture/banking and biological assay development. The position has ample opportunities for career growth through acquisition of new skills, experiences, and professional relationships in a fast-paced and resource-rich environment.
Key Responsibilities
Laboratory Management: Closely collaborate with Research Oncology scientists and the Research Lab Operations team to oversee daily lab-based operations and strategies.
Laboratory safety compliance: collaborating with our Environmental Health and Safety team to ensure Oncology Researchers adhere to safety protocols, regulatory requirements, and best practices.
Lab Asset Management Program (LAMP): Serve as key point of contact and collaborate with end users and Research Operations team to ensure that instruments are serviced in a timely manner.
Laboratory oversight team: Organize team of scientists responsible for laboratory oversight, gather information from lab scientists, implement changes aimed at improving lab efficiency and safety, and cascading information to management.
Lead and organize laboratory expansion/remodeling projects
Budget, purchase and lead installation of capital equipment
Support expansion of the Oncology cell bank: Establishing/implementing cell culture protocols, updating and maintaining laboratory information management systems (LIMs).
Maintain knowledge of scientific literature supporting new technologies in cell line identification and management to ensure technological advances.
Contribute to in vitro cell-based assay development and implementation to support various oncology projects
Independently balance daily operational deliverables and longer-term inventory management and process improvement goals
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree and Seven Years’ Experience
OR
Masters' Degree and Five Years’ Experience
Preferred Qualifications:
6+ Years relevant industry experience with BS; 12+ Years relevant industry experience preferred or 4+ Years relevant industry experience with MS; 10+ Years relevant industry experience preferred Attention to detail with excellent organizational and record keeping skills
Experience and familiarity with lab instruments such as plate reader, cell counters, automated western blot systems, and cell imagers
Familiarity with Smartsheets and/or Tableau to generate dashboards
Familiarity with Ariba and SAP purchasing platforms
Experience and ability to run basic cell assays and generation of cell lines and cell line banking protocols
Excellent communication, interpersonal skills and team mindset
Ability to collaborate with partners from diverse cross-functional teams to advance research aims
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities and timelines
Ability to think critically and facilitate the drive towards continuous improvement
Experience with writing and maintaining standard operating procedures (SOPs) and certificate of analysis (CoAs) documents
