Scientific Lead Drug Delivery for bRo5 Molecules (m/f/d)
As we expand our druggable target space, we are seeking a highly motivated Scientific Lead for the internal development and external leveraging of innovative scientific advances aimed at overcoming the human intestinal barrier. This role focuses on safe chemical, enzymatic, or mechanical means to enhance oral drug absorption, particularly for drug molecules/modalities beyond the traditional Rule of 5 (bRo5). The successful candidate will play a crucial role in expanding the orally deliverable drug space through formulation technology and biorelevant in vitro and in vivo models, supporting both pre-clinical and clinical development of these new modalities.
YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Drive the strategy for the evolving field of drug delivery for bRo5 molecules (including peptides, degraders, and efflux substrates) in alignment with Bayer Pharma pipeline needsServe as the scientific expert to evaluate novel oral delivery technologies for poorly permeable drugs, utilizing biorelevant in silico, in vitro, ex vivo, and in vivo modelsLeverage external scientific network to harness innovation that propels our pipeline forward through novel delivery methodologies as well as monitor competitor activities and ensure freedom to operate (FTO)Lead and co-create scientific expert communities across R&D for the effective delivery of bRo5 moleculesAct as a scientific integrator and multiplier of internal capabilities across various Pharma R&D clusters to drive scientific excellence in drug deliveryCollaborate closely with the internal Advanced Drug Delivery team to implement and develop pathways into clinical development
WHO YOU ARE
Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences or a closely related field with long-term experience of professional experience in the industry, specifically in novel drug delivery technologies at the interface of Pharma research and developmentProven scientific track record demonstrated by key publications, patents in the field, and presentations at scientific conferencesStrong external network and in-depth knowledge of the relevant landscape, including universities, CROs, and CDMOsSolid understanding of Pharma R&D processes and strong acumen in Chemistry, Manufacturing, and Controls (CMC)Embody our VACC (Visionary, Architect, Catalyst, and Coach) leadership behaviors, showcasing high self-awareness and system awarenessExcellent communication skills that facilitate effective collaboration, strategic end-to-end and global thinking, alongside proven organizational and planning abilities, and exceptional stakeholder management skillsHigh energy and focus on vision; self-motivated with a strong sense of ownership and urgencyFluent in English written and verbal; proficiency in a second European language, especially German, would be an asset
