The Scientific research database is the system of records for all silviculture, wood quality, and nursery related research in Weyerhaeuser. The Scientific Data Base Manager is responsible for maintaining and updating the structure of the database to fit the needs of the variety of data collected for internal projects as well as Cooperative research with external institutions. This role is also responsible for ensuring that data meeting high quality standards enter the DB, quality control routines and data collection standardization be implemented.
Key Functions:
Data Collection and Quality Control: Support managers, scientists, and research foresters by ensuring accurate data collection and implementing quality control measures to maintain data integrity.
Automation Development: Develop and implement automated processes to enhance data curation, minimize errors, and maximize efficiency in data handling.
Documentation and Training: Maintain comprehensive documentation of data handling procedures and provide training to data users on best practices.

Database Structure: Skilled in updating database structures to meet customer needs.
Data Handling Solutions: Expertise in developing solutions for efficient data handling, including quality control measures to minimize errors.
Training and Best Practices: Ability to train users on best management practices for data handling.
Technical Proficiency: Proficient in relational database management systems, T-SQL, and GIS-enabled databases, including spatial and tabular data.
Preferred Qualifications:
Technical Proficiency: Knowledge of statistical software (e.g., SAS, R, Python) and experimental design, with a focus on data quality.
Innovation and Technology: Ability to adopt and deploy new technologies, drive innovation, and implement technical improvements.
Operational and Business Acumen: Demonstrated ability to work safely in forestry or related operations, with a basic understanding of forestry and tree growth, and familiarity with the overall business.
Interpersonal and Organizational Skills: Strong organizational skills, interpersonal skills, ability to prioritize tasks, coach and develop others, and a strong work ethic and values.
Compensation:This role is eligible for our annual merit-increase program, and we are targeting a salary range of $106-917 - $176,132 based on your level of skills, qualifications and experience. You will also be eligible for our Annual Incentive Program, which offers a cash bonus targeting 15-20% of base pay. Potential plan funding may range from zero to two times that target.
