Overview:

As the Plant Buyer your new role will be highly visible in an important market to the company.  You will be responsible for working across multiple work teams to include operations, business units, vendors, and suppliers to prepare proposals, quotes, and agreements that create savings for the business.  In this position you will also apply continuous improvement methods to reduce the overall costs of the commodities you support.  You’ll use your ability to prepare and analyze data to create a case for savings.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

Manage the day-to-day activities necessary to purchase goods, materials, supplies, and services that meet the organization’s standards of price, quality, timing, and reliability of supply.Enter orders into the SAP systems for managerial approval and release.Support the analysis of supplier bids, tenders, proposals, or quotations with terms that are in the organization’s best interest, negotiation.Communicate with vendors to resolve problems with the timeliness or quality of supplies.Identify, research, and evaluate suppliers that meet the organization’s standards of price, quality, timing, and reliability of supply.Support the Assessment of supplier’s products to ensure they that they comply with specifications and meet the organization’s quality standards.Collect purchasing related data and provide management with operational reporting.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Procurement, Engineering, Supply Chain, Business, or related field preferred (or at least 4 years of related/similar experience in lieu of degree).Two or more years of procurement or sourcing experience – required.Energetic, ability to work independently with minimal direction, as well as excellent negotiating skills.Strong organizational skills; must be able to perform in a fast paced, multitask environment.Analytical and problem-solving skills a must.Able to evaluate, synthesize and interrelate information from internal and external sources.Ability to communicate effectively across functions, both verbally and written, and generate desired results.Ability to build relationships and alliances across internal and external boundaries.Ability to involve stakeholders in resolving issues, shaping plans, and making decisions.
