**Description**
The School of Nursing (SON) at Stony Brook University invites/seeks applications for a full-time faculty position to teach students and train faculty in the SON simulation center. Candidates with recent teaching experience, and who demonstrate mastery in clinical practice to enhance simulation curriculum delivery and development are encouraged to apply. Experience working with diverse students, faculty and/or staff in the area of training/education or program development to support the development and delivery of simulations is required. Prior experience in a leadership/supervisory role, experience precepting nurse practitioner students, acute care experience, and/or upper division teaching experience is preferred.
The Simulation Education faculty reports directly to the Director, Simulation Education. The role involves teaching clinical simulation to both Undergraduate and Graduate nursing students. Additional responsibilities include supporting the Director with inventory management, and coordinating the planning, preparation/maintenance of simulation equipment, execution, assessment, and improvement of simulation and clinical lab experiences based on evidence-based practice guidelines, course objectives, and curriculum standards. The Simulation Education faculty will also work with both the Undergraduate and Graduate faculty to develop simulation scenarios/curricula to bring nursing simulation-based approaches together. The incumbent will work closely in a collaborative relationship with faculty and learners in the teaching of clinical skills and providing feedback on clinical performance. The educator will create a lab environment that replicates real clinical settings, promoting active learning and problem-solving skills, critical and conceptual thinking, effective communication, and the development of the skills and confidence needed to deliver safe patient care.
The successful incumbent will have excellent verbal, written, organizational and interpersonal skills, including presentation skills. They will be able to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends to meet the Simulation needs of the School of Nursing. Finally, they will provide ongoing maintenance of all simulation equipment, including cleaning, troubleshooting and system problems, and coordinate ongoing maintenance and repairs. It is preferred that the successful incumbent have a Simulation Certification. If it is not completed at time of hire, the successful incumbent is required to complete the certification within a year of being hired.
As a Clinical Instructor/Clinical Assistant Professor/Clinical Associate Professor, faculty are expected to contribute to the educational, research, clinical, and community service mission of the School of Nursing. The school of nursing clinical faculty are leaders in the implementation of innovative student-centered learning strategies for the development of strong clinical reasoning skills in graduates. Candidates who excel in the delivery of online and hybrid teaching formats are strongly encouraged to apply.
All candidates should be prepared to pursue the Scholarship of Teaching in the development of critically reflective knowledge about teaching and learning. Such an approach emphasizes the development, testing, and dissemination of advances in both pedagogy and andragogy. Candidates at the Clinical Assistant/Clinical Associate Professor level are also expected to contribute to the tripartite mission of a major research intensive university by contributing to the research/scholarship and practice/service mission of the university. This position may provide/allow options to continue to engage in clinical practice opportunities.

**Qualifications**
**Required Qualifications:**
Valid NY State Professional Nurse License. Master’s degree (foreign equivalent or higher) in nursing from an accredited institution. Recent classroom or clinical teaching experience; upper division teaching experience preferred. Five (5) years of experience in clinical nursing practice. BLS certified. Experience working with diverse students, faculty and/or staff in the area of training/education or program development to support the development and delivery of simulations. Proficiency with MS Office.
**Preferred Qualifications:**
Doctoral Degree (Earned or In Progress). Three (3) years of recent teaching experience in simulation technology, standardized patient training, and/or related experience in an education/training environment. Experience Precepting Nurse Practitioner Students. Supervisory experience of students and other assistive personnel. Experience in development and coordination of educational programs. Acute care experience. Proficient in computer/simulation software and/or computer/audio/video training systems. Experience with Simulation technologies (Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality, Hi- fidelity simulators, monitors). Experience with Brightspace and other educational platforms. Simulation certification (CHSE, INACSL/ISEP).
