We are seeking a Registered Nurse 1:1 for our Brookside School in Cottekill.
The 1:1 School RN’s primary role is to provide individualized, intensive nursing care to a single student with complex health needs throughout the school day. This role involves accompanying the student to school, providing direct care, administering medications, suctioning, tube feeds and collaborating with the student’s teacher, related service providers, parents, and other professionals to meet the student's specific health requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
+ Direct Care: Assesses the student's health needs, implements individualized healthcare plans, and provides direct care, including medication administration, wound care, and other necessary procedures.
+ Collaboration: Works closely with parents, teachers, school staff, and healthcare providers to develop and implement appropriate care plans, ensuring continuity of care.
+ Monitoring and Documentation: Maintains accurate records of the student's health status, medications, and any interventions provided at all times.
+ Education and Training: Provides health education to the student, parents, and school staff, ensuring they are informed about the student's health conditions and care needs.
+ Emergency Preparedness: Develops and implements emergency response plans for specific medical conditions, ensuring the student is prepared to handle emergencies.
+ Communication: Communicates effectively with parents and school staff regarding the student's health and care needs.
+ Advocacy: Advocates for the student's health and well-being, working to ensure they receive the necessary care and support
+ Safety: Ensures a safe environment for the student, including preventing and managing potential hazards.
+ Interdisciplinary Team Work: Collaborates with other school professionals (teachers, related service providers, and parents to support the student's overall development and well-being).
+ Provide health education to the student, parents, and school staff, ensuring they are informed about the student's health conditions and care needs.
HOURS: 31.25 hours per week/8:00 am to 2:15 pm
STARTING SALARY: $ 51,853.75 to $ 57,039.13 per year
Minimum Requirements
+ New York State RN license, active registration and B.L.S.
+ Computer experience including a good working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Outlook.
+ Excellent communication skills to be able to articulate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
+ Establish and maintain professional and courteous working relationships with all internal staff and external stakeholders.
+ Experience with both preschool and school-age children with intellectual and developmental disabilities preferred.
