Job Title: School Based Therapist
Location: Columbia, Missouri
Department: School-Based Services
Employment Type: Full-Time
Shift: Year-round or 10/11 month contract (with opportunities for extended breaks)
 

Job Summary:
Are you passionate about helping students thrive? Join our dedicated team of School Based Therapists and make a meaningful impact within Columbia-area public schools. In this role, you'll provide on-site individualized counseling, clinical assessments, case management, and support services to promote academic success and overall student wellness.
 

As a School Based Therapist, you will maintain a manageable caseload, engage in collaborative treatment planning, and serve as a liaison between schools, families, and community providers. You'll play a vital role in reducing barriers to learning while empowering youth and their families with tools for long-term well-being.

Key Responsibilities:

Deliver school-based, individualized counseling aligned with each student’s treatment goals

Build and manage a therapeutic caseload in accordance with supervision standards

Provide crisis intervention and emotional support to students during emergencies

Participate in client staffings and contribute to collaborative treatment planning

Coordinate follow-up care and referrals to ensure continuity of support

Serve as liaison between school staff, families, and community providers

Conduct clinical assessments and implement appropriate therapeutic interventions

Assist in reducing academic and social barriers through prevention and intervention services

Collaborate with school counselors and other stakeholders to access community resources

Promote resilience, emotional regulation, and academic success in the school environment
 

Education and/or Experience Qualifications:

Master’s degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or related licensure-eligible field

Currently licensed or license-eligible as one of the following:

Provisionally Licensed Professional Counselor (PLPC)

Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC)

Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW)

Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)

Provisionally or Fully Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist (PLMFT/LMFT)
 

Additional Qualifications:

Experience in family, individual, or group therapy preferred

Valid driver’s license and auto insurance

Strong communication and organizational skills

Commitment to student-centered, trauma-informed care
