Job Title Scholastic Performance Specialist I Agency Texas A&M University at Galveston Department 10120912 Center for Academic Learning Support (Krista McBrien) Proposed Minimum Salary $3,750.00 monthly Job Location Galveston, Texas Job Type Staff Job Description A Glimpse of the Job The Scholastic Performance Specialist I develops and implements student scholastic performance programs and activities; providing scholastic direction and offering services to students in individual and group formats. Directs students to resources that will assist students in becoming academically successful, and monitors student progress and maintains records. Essential Duties/Tasks: Academic Coaching + Assists students in need of social and academic support in one-on-one or group settings + Communicate with students about academic concerns + Assist students in need of campus referrals or support opportunities + Collaborates with students to understand and develop realistic and attainable education and academic goals + Educates students about and prepares students for full array of academic processes by sharing university and college policies, program requirements, etc. + Reviews students' academic record and counsel students + Creates and maintains updated relevant records and notes Student Success and Retention / Other Duties + Consistently engages student population utilizing various outreach methods (e.g., in-person and online) to cultivate a professional relationship to keep students informed of critical and relevant personal, academic and professional deadlines, updates, information, and events + Proactively shares with students available academic, professional, and health and wellness resources. May refer students as needed. + Actively monitors students' progress through the program by reviewing and assessing academic records to determine status of progression, as well as identifying and referring students in which additional intervention and guidance may be recommended for reaching goals + Assists in the planning and/or delivery of various department related academic coaching, student success, retention events and academic support campaigns (e.g., New Student Conference, HU - 1st year success course, Pathways learning community, etc.) + Assists in organizing student support resources (e.g., F1RST Gen Lounge, peer coaching office, etc.) + Performs other duties as assigned What you need to know Salary: $45,000 annually Special Instructions: A cover letter and resume are strongly recommended.
