Scheduling Coordinator - Neurosurgery - Atlantic City

POSITION SUMMARY

The Office Coordinator/Surgical Scheduler is responsible for the daily oversight and scheduling of all elective IR and OR procedures, pre-op testing and diagnostic services.  Position coordinates a wide variety of patient and information flow between Pre-Admission testing, Radiology, Intraoperative Neuro Monitoring, Bed Placement and the Operating Room and is responsible for understanding the patient registration process as well as the tools necessary to obtain prior authorization and medical necessity for service rendered.  This position communicates and collaborates with IR and OR schedulers as well as patient access team members and other hospital personnel to provide quality customer service. This role also supports the daily operations of the specialty practice office, including ensuring readiness for office hours and assisting with front desk workflows as needed. Responsibilities include oversight of chart preparation, insurance eligibility verification, precertification for diagnostic testing and imaging, and other routine administrative tasks. 

 

The Surgical Scheduler enters data for all cases/procedures into the surgical schedule in Microsoft Outlook and provides and supports organizational goals by providing quality customer service, participating in performance improvement efforts, and demonstrating a commitment to teamwork and cooperation.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION:  High school diploma or equivalent required.

LICENSE/CERTIFICATION: 

EXPERIENCE:  3 years experience in the medical field as a registrar, receptionist or other related position required.  Knowledge of medical terminology and computer experience with scheduling software programs such as ECW and ESM is preferred.  Proficiency in Clinical Applications preferred at time of hire; incumbents within position will be trained appropriately. Demonstrated skill will be required for this position within 30-60 days from the date of hire.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Potential for exposure to the hazards and risk of the hospital environment, including exposure to infectious disease, hazardous substances, and potential injury.  This position requires sitting and working at a computer a majority of the time.
