POSITION SUMMARY
The Scheduler is responsible for the booking of surgeries and procedures conducted at the Surgery Center. This position ensures the effective and efficient use of Center time and space
based on established block schedules. The surgical scheduler is responsible to ensure accuracy
of the daily schedule. The surgical scheduler will maintain open and active communication
with physician offices to ensure timely and accurate bookings.
This position supports organizational goals by providing quality customer service, participating in performance improvement efforts and demonstrating a commitment to team work and cooperation.
QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION: High school diploma or equivalent required.
LICENSE/CERTIFICATION:
EXPERIENCE: 1-2 years office experience required. Knowledge of Microsoft Office, medical terminology, ICD 10 and current procedural terminology.. Strong communication and organization skills required. 2 years ofsurgical scheduling preferred. Knowledge of gastroenterology, general surgery, and orthopedic surgery and eye surgical procedures preferred.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Potential for exposure to the hazards and risk of the hospital environment, including exposure to infectious disease, hazardous substances, and potential injury.
This position requires desk/telephone work a majority of the time. This position requires occasional standing and walking and occasional lifting up to 20 pounds.

This position reports to department leadership.
