Position Title Scene Shop Assistant- Work Study (Student) Student Status Work Study Required- You are required to be a Federal Work Study Recipient to hold this position. Work Location Springfield Campus Department Theatre & Dance Hiring Range 13.75 Sponsorship Information Applicants must be currently authorized to work for ANY employer in the United States on a full-time basis. This position is not eligible for work visa sponsorship. Department/Employer Operating Hours Theatre & Dance How many hours per week are required? 6-8 Description of Primary Duties To assist in the construction, installation, and decoration of scenic elements for the Theatre and Dance Department’s season of productions. Required Qualifications Read technical draftings and plates, Generate cut lists, Operate industrial saws to cut lumber, Use power and hand tools to construct and install scenic items, Paint scenery with required techniques, Climb ladders and scaffolding, Lift reasonable weight, Observe and help enforce applicable safety regulations. Required Certifications Many skills will be taught on site; previous experience with hand and power tools is preferred. Ability to lift approximately 50 lbs. Basic math skills.
