Job Description:

SCADA Design Engineer
Abu Dhabi, UAE

We are looking for a skilled and experienced SCADA Design Engineer to join our engineering Design team. This role focuses exclusively on the design and engineering aspects of SCADA systems for industrial and infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing comprehensive design deliverables, developing system architecture, and ensuring integration alignment across control and automation systems.

What You'll Be Doing:

- Develop complete SCADA system designs, including network architecture, data flow diagrams, and interface definitions with control and field devices.

- Prepare and review detailed engineering documentation such as:

Functional Design Specifications (FDS)

SCADA system block diagrams and panel layouts

I/O schedules and tag lists

Alarm management strategy and signal categorization

HMI screen navigation hierarchy and layout guidelines

- Define communication and integration requirements with PLCs, RTUs, and instrumentation systems.

- Ensure designs comply with applicable project standards, cybersecurity practices, and industry guidelines.

- Coordinate with electrical, MEP, control, and ITS teams to ensure design alignment across disciplines.

- Participate in internal and external design reviews, providing technical input and revisions as needed.

What Required Skills You'll Bring:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer, Electronics, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering.

Minimum 5 years of professional experience in SCADA system design or implementation.

Strong understanding of SCADA system architecture, control system integration, and industrial communication principles.

A strong background in engineering documentation and multidisciplinary coordination is essential.

Proficient in preparing structured technical documentation for automation systems.

Experience working on infrastructure, utilities, or industrial automation projects.

Soft Skills:

Strong attention to detail and a structured approach to technical documentation.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a project-driven environment.

Strong organizational and time management skills.

Working Conditions:

Primarily office-based with occasional site visits if required for design validation.

Must be able to work under deadlines and manage multiple design duties in parallel.

What Desired Skills You'll Bring:

Familiarity with industry standards such as ISA-101 (HMI design), IEC 62443 (cybersecurity), or equivalent.

Understanding of multidisciplinary coordination and interface requirements with control, electrical, and MEP systems.

Previous experience in Industrial / nfrastructure or Buildings projects.
