Sawmill Superintendent

Weyerhaeuser is currently searching for a Production Superintendent to manage the sawmill at our Longview Lumber facility in Longview, Washington.
The Production Superintendent is a full-time, exempt position reporting directly to the unit manager and is a key member of the Longview Lumber leadership team. As Production Superintendent, you are responsible for the safe coordination and oversight of the daily activities in the sawmill. You are a safety role model with excellent team skills and a proven ability to lead and develop people. You will lead the team by proactively resolving employee issues in a union environment, building team-work, and ensuring adherence to all applicable site policies and procedures in a fair and consistent manner.
*Key Functions:*
* Manage the departmental safety processes and education to ensure a safe work environment.
* Optimize your functional area including planning production activities and budget, coordinating maintenance activities with the maintenance team, and improving performance according to set objectives and established goals for safety, quality, waste reduction, and process reliability.
* Provide leadership for all department staff including hiring, planning, evaluating job performance, and providing regular feedback and coaching for the development of shift supervisors, as well as hourly production associates.
* Facilitate proactive problem-solving and communication with other site leaders.
* Ensure accurate and timely production reporting.

* Bachelor's Degree (or higher) in Forestry, Business, Industrial Engineering, or related field OR equivalent combination of education and experience
* At least 2 years' experience in lumber or wood products manufacturing preferred
* At least 5 years' leadership experience in a manufacturing environment
* Demonstrated commitment to safe work practices
* Track record of success in a complex and fast-paced manufacturing environment
* Demonstrated ability in leading a team to achieve breakthrough results
* Ability to raise performance by building and maintaining positive relationships with all associates through coaching, development and instilling a continuous improvement mind-set
* Ability to lead teams, generate commitment, motivate employees toward a common goal, and promote a culture of trust and collaboration
* Excellent interpersonal skills--conflict management, coaching, supportive feedback, and problem solving
* Excellent communication skills--oral, presentation, written, and listening
* Strong planning and organizational skills, work ethic, good judgment, and decision-making skills
* Strong mechanical and technical knowledge
* Basic computer skills and proficiency in MS Office, other Windows based programs and internet skills

*What We offer...*
Compensation: This role is eligible for our annual merit-increase program, and we are targeting a salary range of $97,000 - $146,000 based on your level of skills, qualifications and experience. You will also be eligible for our Annual Incentive Program, which offers a cash bonus targeting 10% of base pay. Potential plan funding may range from zero to two times that target.

Retirement: Employees are able to enroll in our company’s 401k plan, which includes a paid company match in addition to our annual contribution equal to 5% of your base salary.
Paid Time Off or Vacation: We provide eligible employees who are scheduled to work 25 hours or more per week with 3-weeks of paid vacation to use during your first year of employment. In addition, after being employed for six months, eligible employees begin to accrue vacation for future use. We also recognize eleven paid holidays per year, providing a total of 88 holiday hours
