The Security Engineering Program (SEP) under Homeland and Force Protection at Leidos currently has an opening within the Professional Services Support (PSS) Program for a Satellite Communications Technician. The candidate is responsible for providing remote and on-site service, repair, and installation support for existing hardware, software, communication network configurations, and new system initiatives across all locations within their area of responsibility. Requires expert knowledge of and ability to apply advanced technical principles, theories, and concepts.
Primary Responsibilities
They will diagnose mechanical or technical deviations from performance specifications using established procedures and prepare reports to analyze failure trends and serviceability issues. Duties will include managing, handling, and disposition/administration of Communications Security (COMSEC) material. Their responsibilities may also include providing on-site support services and assisting in the development and implementation of area-wide procedural and policy changes. The candidate will be responsible for entire projects or processes within their professional area and typically be accountable for coaching and reviewing the work of their peers. They will develop technical solutions to complex problems that require collaboration with internal experts and perform in-depth analyses of their impact on the product or solution.
Basic Qualifications
Must possess a minimum of TS Clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain program SCI and Polygraph.Bachelor's degree in a related area or equivalent work experience.Minimum of seven (7) years of experience with Satellite Communication (SATCOM) systems, including system operations, engineering, design, installation, repair, and analysisExpert-level knowledge of the DoD satellite resource allocation process.Experience handling Communications Security (COMSEC) electronic material and Controlled Cryptographic Item (CCI)Very proficient with operating and installing satellite modems, associated cables, and interconnects; Up Converters, Redundancy Switch; Down Converters, HPAs, Low Noise Amplifiers (LNAs), LNB; Waveguide (rigid, flex, and elliptical) joints and connections; IF cable and connections; Antenna, Antenna motors, Solid State Power Amplifiers (SSPA), Antenna Control Unit (ACU), and associated cabling and interconnects.Expert knowledge of electronic and radio frequency (RF) theory, spectrum analyzers, antennas, signal propagation, Very Small Aperture Terminal (VSAT) systems, Communications on the Move (COTM), and Communications On the Pause (COTP) operational principles.Must have normal color vision.Able to constantly stand to perform maintenance tasks for extended periods; frequently walk to access work sites while maintaining balance on uneven surfaces; make frequent coordinated hand movements to grasp, place, or move objects.Able to occasionally: bend, stoop, and kneel; climb to access equipment, use ladders, and use lift carts; lift and carry objects weighing up to forty-five (45) pounds a minimum of twenty (20) feet; push and pull objects weighing up to seventy-five (75) pounds.Preferred Qualifications

Pay Range:Pay Range $89,700.00 - $162,150.00The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary.
