Job Description:At Regions, the Accounting External Reporting Function Manager is responsible for planning, organizing and directing the activities of external reporting, which includes Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Reporting and Regulatory Reporting. This position is responsible for one or the other, not both.
Primary Responsibilities
SEC Reporting
Plans, organizes, and directs the activities of the SEC Reporting Department in the production of the SEC filings such as the Form 10-K, Form 10-Q, Form 8-K, etc.Ensures required reports are prepared timely, accurately and adhere to policies and procedures and governance activities of the departmentPrepares and/or reviews the many aspects of the SEC filings; preparation typically involves the more technical disclosuresPrepares certain sections of Management’s Discussion and Analysis (MD&A) narrative by getting updates from and vetting issues with data providers and understanding overall themes to be disclosedCoordinates preparation and review of the quarterly earnings materials by significantly interacting with the Investor Relations departmentInterfaces with Data Providers from the various business units to encourage cooperation and mutual understanding of reporting guidelinesParticipates in and creates agenda/materials for the Disclosure Review Committee; also has presentation responsibilitiesCompletes and/or reviews external auditing firm’s disclosure checklistsEnsures consistency by internally referencing SEC filingsServes as a liaison to Internal Audit and the external auditors related to the SEC filingsRepresents Regions in interacting with peers on reporting mattersAssists in reporting requirements related to debt or equity offeringsResearches the impact to Regions’ reporting of new accounting pronouncements as they are draftedAssists in drafting reporting aspects of a new accounting pronouncement in coordination with the Business Unit Controller’s groupAssists in managing the relationship with vendor providing the reporting platform utilized for SEC Reporting (Workiva’s Wdesk platform) and provides leadership to team on use of the platformRegulatory Reporting
Plans, organizes, and directs the activities of the Regulatory Reporting Department in the production of the Call Report Federal Financial Institution Examination Council (FFIEC 031) and Y9’sEnsures required regulatory reports are prepared timely, accurately and adhere to policies and procedures and governance activities of the departmentInteracts with representatives of the federal and state regulatory agencies, as well as the on-site examiners, on matters regarding regulatory reportsRepresents Regions in interacting with trade associates and peers on reporting mattersKeeps current with new accounting and regulatory matters impacting the Call Report and Y9sUtilizes professional judgment to conclude on and document technical decisions regarding reporting issuesLeads implementation of new or revised reporting requirements promulgated by the regulatory agenciesInterfaces with Data Providers from the various business units to encourage cooperation and mutual understanding of reporting guidelinesInterfaces with Regulatory Reporting Quality Assurance to aid them in accomplishing their work, review their findings and design, and implement remediation steps as requiredInterfaces with Internal Audit to accomplish a timely and effective audit of Regulatory ReportingParticipates in Regulatory training sessions for 80+ data providers in numerous sessions at least annuallyManages relationship with vendor providing software which facilitates submission of reportsInterfaces with vendor providing the reporting platform utilized for Regulatory Reporting (Workiva’s Wdesk platform) and provides leadership to team on use of the platformThis position is exempt from timekeeping requirements under the Fair Labor Standards Act and is not eligible for overtime pay.

Requirements
Masters degree in Accounting, Finance or a directly related field and five (5) years of accounting experience or combined bank reporting experienceOr Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance or a directly related field and seven (7) years of accounting experience or combined bank reporting experienceCertified Public Accountant (CPA) required for SEC ReportingPreferences

Associates will have regular work hours, including full days in the office three or more days a week. The manager will set the work schedule for this position, including in-office expectations. Regions will not provide relocation assistance for this position, and relocation would be at your expense.

Pay ranges are job specific and are provided as a point-of-market reference for compensation decisions. Other factors which directly impact pay for individual associates include: experience, skills, knowledge, contribution, job location and, most importantly, performance in the job role. As these factors vary by individuals, pay will also vary among individual associates within the same job.
