Job Description
The Sample Prep Technician 2 will work within the Preparation Department to handle and prepare client samples for analysis in our labs. The role involves various tasks including handling samples and maintaining lab equipment under supervision.
The schedule consists of four 10-hour shifts, either Wednesday to Saturday or Sunday to Wednesday, from 5:30am to 4pm.
ResponsibilitiesPerform ringing, sieving, crushing, and splitting of samples under direct supervision.Load and unload drying ovens under supervision.Maintain personal production logs.Conduct general cleaning duties to ensure basic lab cleanliness.Assist with layout duties and tasks as required.Handle compositing, screen metallics, and special handling requests.Inspect equipment and report to senior employees if adjustments are required.Ensure analytical quality is maintained.Adhere to established safety regulations and comply with all health and safety policies and procedures.Perform other duties as assigned.Essential SkillsGood hand-eye coordination.Strong organizational skills.Ability to work independently or as part of a team.Basic alpha/numeric comprehension.Basic English communication skills, both written and verbal.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience in a mineral lab or manual labor in a warm environment.Ability to match numbers.Comfortable wearing PPE and a respirator.Ability to work in an environment that isn't temperature controlled.Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.Minimum 3 months (90 days) work experience in a commercial mineral laboratory or sample preparation.Work Environment
The position requires working in a hot and dusty environment with manual dexterity to perform repetitive tasks. Employees must be able to sit and/or stand for long periods, lift up to 50lbs, and use lift assist equipment if needed. The schedule consists of four 10-hour shifts, either Wednesday to Saturday or Sunday to Wednesday, from 5:30am to 4pm.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $18.39 - $18.39/hr.
