Overview: 

Boise Cascade is seeking motivated individuals to join our Sales Trainee Program. This program is designed to prepare candidates for a successful sales career in the building materials industry. Trainees will gain hands-on experience in our yard, and warehouse, while developing product knowledge, operational skills, and an understanding of industry practices. 

Sales Trainee Training Program Structure: 

Yard/Warehouse Operations: 

Duration: Approximately 6–8 months.  Operate mobile equipment (stand-up and sit-down lifts).  Learn product lines quickly and effectively.  Work safely and complete RADARs (safety reports).  Participate actively in safety meetings.  Demonstrate professionalism in communication and teamwork.  Represent the program positively to associates. 

Sales Training: 

Learn administrative duties Gain knowledge of division and industry practices through hands-on experience in sales departments. Responsibilities include: Initiating sales and taking orders. Anticipating and meeting customer needs. Manage assigned products: Select product vendors, handle purchasing, pricing, and inventory monitoring. Promote assigned products. Engage with customers: Discuss market fluctuations and trends. Fill customer orders while acquiring basic product knowledge. Understand customer quality expectations. Complete special projects as assigned.

Strong commitment to safety and attendance.  Timely arrival, appropriate breaktimes, and a solid work ethic.  Ability to collaborate effectively with associates.  Efficient and accurate task execution.  Leadership potential, including speaking confidently in safety meetings.  Positive attitude and professionalism in all aspects of the role.

Qualifications 

Basic Qualifications: College Degree or equivalent work experience in related job function. Working conditions are an office environment with moderate physical exertion.   

Preferred Qualifications: Effective communication skills, and ability to work well with team members.  Experience in the building materials industry a plus.
