Your role and responsibilities:

In this role, you will have the opportunity to be responsible for the sales of products/systems/services within a designated market/division, in line with the division strategy. Each day, you will achieve both qualitative and quantitative sales targets to ensure sustainable order growth, revenues, profitability, market share, and customer satisfaction. You will also showcase your expertise by identifying and developing new sales opportunities.

The work model for the role is: remote (#Li-Remote) covering the Bay area.

This role is contributing to the Electrification Smart Buildings division.
 

Key Responsibilities:           

Customer Relationship Management: Develop and maintain strong relationships with electrical contractors across all organizational levels, introducing new products and educating them on ABB’s differentiators through technical presentations and direct engagement.Sales Strategy & Execution: Plan and implement sales strategies to grow market share and margins, influence customer specifications, and motivate preference for ABB Industrial Solutions over competitors. Meet or exceed assigned volume and margin targets.Opportunity Management: Identify and track upcoming sales opportunities, perform take-offs from project plans and specs, develop cost-effective proposals, and negotiate project orders using market pricing insights to close deals effectively.Data & Market Intelligence: Provide feedback on market trends, competitive intelligence, and hit-rate performance. Track leads, wins, and losses in Salesforce CRM and analyze data to inform business and sales leadership.

Qualifications:

Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university (Engineering preferred) or GED with 10+ years of sales experience. Minimum 8 years in sales, with demonstrated success in quoting and selling commercial, industrial, and residential projects to electrical contractors.Industry & Technical Expertise: Deep knowledge of the electrical industry and ABB products, with strong technical application skills including take-offs, proposal development, and understanding of customer financial drivers. Proficient in using analytical software and sales tools to support decision-making and strategy.Customer Engagement & Sales Strategy: Proven ability to build and maintain productive relationships with electrical contractors, deliver persuasive technical presentations, introduce new products, and influence customer specifications to favor ABB. Track opportunities, wins, and losses in CRM (Salesforce) and provide market feedback and competitive intelligence.Communication & Leadership: Strong interpersonal, coordination, and influencing skills with a customer-focused mindset. Excellent oral and written communication, presentation abilities, and leadership qualities. Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and be willing to travel as needed.Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US.

While base salary is determined by things such as the successful applicant’s qualifications and experience, this position is expected to pay between $98,700 and $183,300 annually and is bonus eligible.
