Sales Representative (Puerto Rico)

The Opportunity:

Avantor is looking for a dedicated and high energy Sales Representative to maintain and advance our Education Sales efforts.

 

This role will be a full-time position based in Puerto Rico. You will have the opportunity to consultatively sell Avantor's extensive portfolio of products and services to academics, researchers, and staff. What we are looking for

Education: College degree or equivalent/applicable experience requiredExperience: 2–5 years of success in complex sales environments, ideally involving long sales cycles and multiple decision-makers

­Bilingual in English and Spanish required

Solid background in B2B sales, with the ability to build and maintain strong client relationships

Proficiency with CRM systems, using data to manage pipelines and optimize performance

Experience applying best-in-class sales methodologies, such as SPIN Selling, Challenger, or Miller Heiman

A valid driver’s license is required, as travel may be necessary to fulfill key responsibilities of the role

Willingness to travel to customer locations minimum 3 days a week

Collaboration Tool: Microsoft Office, specifically Teams with preference for experience in C4C or QlikviewPreferred Qualifications: Preference given to those who have worked in a laboratory or research environment and/or with distribution experience and a scientific backgroundBachelor’s degree within the sciencesSales experience in academic institutions or environments

 

How you will thrive and create an impact  

The Sales Representative is accountable for all sales activities, from lead generation through close, in an assigned territory, using a formal selling approach. This role develops and implements an agreed upon Operating Plan which will meet both personal and business goals of expanding customer sales in the assigned geography.

Sell consultatively by identifying customer needs, presenting tailored solutions, and recommending Avantor’s products and servicesLeverage available resources to effectively implement company marketing plan, strategies and sales processesBuild and maintain strong customer relationships to drive satisfaction, loyalty, and long-term growthCollaborate with sales leadership to develop and implement strategic territory plans to achieve sales goalsManage a diverse product portfolio and align sales efforts with company-defined strategiesProspect and acquire new customers by managing a sales pipeline and delivering compelling proposals that highlight Avantor’s valueGrow existing accounts by aligning solutions with evolving customer needs and retention strategiesRepresent Avantor in the field and build strong partnerships with key manufacturersWork closely with manufacturer reps to enhance product knowledge, secure competitive pricing, and improve account profitability

 

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES (Those necessary to perform the job competently)

AI Literacy: Familiarity with AI platforms for sales prospecting, lead generation, and data-driven decision-making.Strong analytical skills with the ability to derive insights from CRM and BI dashboards.Proficient in CRM systems (SAP C4C, Salesforce), Microsoft 365, and sales enablement platforms.Effective communication and relationship-building across internal and external stakeholders.Consultative and strategic sales approach with proven quota achievement.Agile in hybrid work environments (remote, virtual, and in-person).Strong self-management and organizational skills.

ENVIRONMENTAL WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL EFFORT (Under Typical Positions)
Hybrid work model: home-based with frequent travel across Puerto Rico.

Physical requirements limited to lifting samples or promotional items (<10 lbs).

Ability to work under deadlines and handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced sales environment.
