The energy sector is facing a unique transformation process. All industries are now taking decisive steps toward decarbonization in ways we’ve never seen before. The search for alternative energy sources and the drive to improve efficiency in existing processes have become essential. In this context, Energy Efficiency and Waste Heat Recovery are the drivers of this huge transformation where Alfa Laval plays a key role. This applies to a wide range of Process Industries, such as Petrochemical, Paper, Chemical, metal - to name a few - but also to renewable and new alternative energy industries such as hydrogen, biofuels, biomethane, methanol, ammonia, among others.
Wherever there is a need for heating, cooling, evaporation, purification, and energy recovery - Alfa Laval offers a wide range of technologies that can support potential customers in this transition, namely through the most comprehensive heat exchangers portfolio in the market, and also via both thermal and centrifugal Separations complete systems.
To capture the growing opportunities, Alfa Laval Portugal is looking to recruit a Sales Engineer to lead business development in the energy market. The selected candidate will be responsible for growing this Business Unit (BU) by promoting and selling our full product portfolio to end users and contractors, with Energy Efficiency and the New Energy Landscape as key business drivers. The role also includes identifying and developing cross-selling opportunities across other BUs within the same market. This requires close coordination with colleagues across our Iberian local organization and with central BU teams at our headquarters or factories across Europe.
The main responsibilities will be:
Understand market trends and customer behavior to create business plans aligned with the Business Division’s strategy and targets. Identify and manage leads from the market and customers and convert them into real business opportunities to maintain a strong sales pipeline. Actively engage with the market through customer visits, meetings, and multichannel interactions—focusing on understanding customer needs and highlighting the value of our products and services.What you know
Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or similar – preferred). Strong commercial mindset with 5+ years of experience in technical sales, ideally within the energy sector Knowledge of heat transfer processes and centrifugal separation/filtration technologies is a plus. Fluent in Portuguese, Spanish, and English. Availability to travel mainly within Portugal and occasionally to Spain. Our office is located in Alfragide (Lisbon), and you are expected to be there approximately 1 to 2 times per week. Remote office positions are also welcome to applyWho you are
