Sales Engineer

Sales Engineering is a key part of the company’s worldwide ecommerce, in-person, and omnichannel sales efforts and the group partners in the sales process by providing technical pre and post sales consultation to our clients and partners.
 

As a Sales Engineer at Global Payments, your role is pivotal in bridging technical solutions with customer needs. Collaborating closely with the Sales Team, you'll leverage your expertise to understand and address client requirements. Through product demonstrations and presentations, you'll guide prospects through the capabilities of our offerings. Your role ensures seamless implementation, fostering customer satisfaction and driving successful sales outcomes.

Our Sales Engineering Team works directly with our sales teams and with clients and partners to technically evaluate needs, propose internal and in some cases partner-sourced solutions, and provide all technical consulting through the full sales cycle. Our Sales Engineers are client facing solution architects and have the right mix of payment experience, technical expertise and sales acumen to differentiate our products and services from the competition.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Collaborate with Internal and External Stakeholders across time zones and geographies

Manage resources for Sales Engineering Calls

Ensure a quick turnaround in accommodating Sales Engineering Requests from our sales & partner organizations.

Responsible for providing the sales team with the necessary technical expertise to enable them to sell our products.

Identify enhancements and prioritize features and corresponding justification in collaboration with our Product Team.

Provide consultative support to key internal/external stakeholders and become a key evangelist of the product.

Perform Technical Discoveries with Partners and  Customers as needed by sales and deliver feedback to Product Management Organization if necessary.

Stay up-to-date with Product knowledge to be a Subject Matter Expert on our Products and capabilities

Map customer requirements to our product offerings

Accelerate opportunities through the funnel by providing solutions through the presales process.

Help sell our solutions through compelling software demonstrations for partners, prospects, and clients.

Deliver custom product demonstrations that focus on the customer's key business drivers.

Support the sales effort by contributing to answering RFPs

Acquire end-user feedback and product ideas for feedback on product development.

Collaborate cross-functionally across sales, marketing, implementation, and product development- Share feedback & gather updates on the latest product/feature enhancements & releases.

Architect solutions which address client and partner needs through the implementation of our payment gateway and acquiring services

Maintain expertise in all ecommerce, in-person, and omnichannel payment and acquiring solutions

Define and articulate technical best practices to clients and partners

Partner with sales team to acquire new clients and up-sell / cross-sell existing clients

Articulate and demonstrate how our solutions meet client and partner needs and requirements

Provide technical expertise and guidance throughout the sales cycle to drive opportunities to close

Engage with internal teams including Product Management, Product Development, Client Support and Marketing to relay market feedback and provide input into the design of new solutions

Periodically Lead internal product training sessions to sales and client-facing teams

Periodically participate as a subject matter expert at industry conferences, trade shows, client events and summits

Participate in ongoing sales and technical process improvement initiatives within the company

COMPETENCIES

Confident speaker with ability to present, interact, and connect with executives, engineers and other technical contacts

Natural ability to understand and articulate complex concepts in a clear and concise manner

Must be a great team player

Must be familiar with API Integrations including JSON Restful Web Services, et al

Ability to develop and articulate client requirements and to architect technical solutions that satisfy those requirements

Strong personal desire to improve and expand general technical and industry-related knowledge

Strong knowledge of industry leading ecommerce payment solutions

Excellent verbal and communication skills

Excellent analytical and problem solving skills

Excellent self-investigation, research, and troubleshooting skills

QUALIFICATIONS

5+ years of technical experience, at least 3 of which are within the payment industry

Strong experience in the technical aspects of ecommerce, mobile and/or POS 

Technical background or related discipline (or equivalent experience)

Strong experience in learning and explaining integrations to payment systems, including navigating platform and card brand specifications

Ability to travel up to 35% to meet with Client Prospects and/or Team Members
