Sales Application Engineer

Key Responsibilities

Industry Knowledge: Maintain up-to-date knowledge of EV charging hardware, software controls, and industry trends. Site Design/Engineering (CAD): Develop and produce detailed 2D construction drawings using AutoCAD for EV charging systems, switchboards, solar, and battery storage applications. Prepare and revise single-line diagrams, floor plans, equipment layouts, riser diagrams, and schedules with a high degree of accuracy, clarity, and consistency. Drawing Standardization: Maintain drawing standards, layering conventions, and file management protocols to align with project requirements and organizational best practices. Incorporate redlines, markups, and technical feedback provided by senior engineers and project leads into design deliverables. Document Control: Coordinate and manage multiple drawing sets throughout various project phases, including schematic design, construction documents, and record drawings. Customer Interaction: Communicate professionally and proactively with internal and external customers. Sales Support: Provide estimating and technical sales support for EV hardware and software solutions, energy consulting, and development planning. Deliverable Generation: Creation of technical deliverables, including single lines, layouts, load calculations, panel, and feeder schedules. Construction Knowledge: Understanding of electrical construction methods, phasing, and coordination with other trades Risk Management: Identify and mitigate risks, coordinating with operations and legal teams to ensure a profitable project Proposal Development: Assist in creating and managing proposals, obtaining pricing, managing risks, and leading bid reviews. Team Collaboration: Work effectively within a team environment. Manage external stakeholders, including vendors and subcontractors. Site Evaluations: Conduct on-site evaluations of facilities and equipment as per the customer's scope of work. Compliance: Ensure adherence to NEC, OSHA, ADA, and other relevant codes and guidelines. Additional Duties: Perform other duties as assigned, with job duties subject to modification.

Basic Qualification:

Bachelor’s degree in electrical or civil engineering. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, AutoCAD, and a strong understanding of NEC, NFPA-70E, SAE, and IEEE/ANSI standards. At least three years of experience in electrical engineering, electrical estimating, labor cost and pricing, and electrical service work. EV infrastructure experience is preferred. Willingness to travel 25% of the time. Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.

Preferred Qualifications:

At least 5 years of engineering experience using CAD in civil, electrical, or utility infrastructure projects. At least 7 years of professional experience providing design support or serving in a design lead role within a design-build or consulting firm. Proven expertise in electrical system layouts, with a focus on commercial and industrial environments. Experience collaborating across multidisciplinary teams and delivering solutions that meet both technical standards and client expectations is highly desirable. Knowledge of relevant codes, standards, and best practices (e.g., NEC, NFPA, IEEE) is considered a strong asset. PE licensure or a passing grade in the FE exam.
