Safety Technician
Nammo Defense Systems, Inc., a defense contractor, is the primary USA operation of the Nammo Group (Nammo AS). Nammo Defense Systems Inc. JOB OVERVIEW: The Safety Technician supports daily safety operations, audits, inspections, training, and compliance initiatives to ensure the protection of employees, facilities, and the environment. This role will be part of our Safety, Health, and Environmental team, we are seeking a qualified individual to fill the role of Safety Technician. How you will be rewarded as our Safety Technician: • Competitive compensation • Monday-Thursday work week working four 10-hour days (off on Fridays) • Generous paid time off and Holiday Pay • Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance • 401(K), employee assistance programs, health savings account KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: • Conduct worksite audits to identify potential risks and ensure regulatory compliance. • General knowledge of regulatory compliance with OSHA, NFPA, ANSI, ASME, and DoD 4145.26M regulations and other federal, state, county and city regulations and codes preferred. • Will observe operations to identify compliance with procedures and HESS policies. • Prepare written reports and procedures working closely with other health, environmental, safety and security staff and consultants. • Will support hazard analysis activities and implementing environmental, health, and safety improvements. • Create and maintain SDS (Safety Data Sheet) records within the MSDSonline system ensuring accuracy and regulatory compliance. • Assist with conducting new hire orientations and facility tours as needed. • Assist with the implementation and monitoring of safety programs. • Partner with plant leadership to identify, track, and drive the closure of safety related findings and corrective actions from audits, inspections, and incidents. • Develop and maintain daily safety content for Safety and SQDIP meetings, including relevant safety topics, trends, and recent incidents and/or observations. • Investigate workplace accidents and complaints. • Will provide assistance and escort contractors and consultants as needed. • Ability to obtain/maintain BATF approval to work with our products. • Other duties as required. • Follow standard practices and safety procedures. • Strictly adhere to all safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe working environment. SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS: Required: • Experience in chemical, manufacturing, or explosives industries preferred. • General knowledge of Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), Hot Work, Industrial Hygiene, Confinded Space and Hazard Communication preferred. • Familiarity with OSHA 1910 General Industry preferred. • Proficient working knowledge of all MS Office Suite products. • OSHA 30 and HAZWOPER certifications (may be completed after hire). • Ability to prepare comprehensive written reports. • Excellent speaking and presentation skills. • Knowledge of industrial work processes, material handling techniques, and proper management of hazardous materials. • Ability to obtain Security Clearance and ATF approval to handle products. • Must possess or have the ability to obtain a valid Arizona driver’s license by the time of hire. • HAZWOPER yearly certification must be maintained/renewed throughout employment (employer-paid). • Must be able to work in indoor and outdoor environments. • Must have the manual dexterity of hands and body to operate office equipment, motor vehicles, hiking/walking in varied terrain outdoors. • Must be able to manage frequent interruptions, high work volumes, multiple tasks, team-oriented activities and prompt decision-making. • Must constantly maintain concentration, accuracy, ethical behavior, and a professional demeanor. • Must be able to file and lift/carry/push and/or pull 50 lbs.
