SAFETY SUPERVISOR
Description Position at Empire Packing

Responsibilities:Provides support to production personnel by maintaining a visible presence on the production floor.Ensure that all incidents are reported immediately.Participates and assists in the determining of the root causes of incidents and what corrective actions may be necessary in each case.Ensure that incident corrective actions are followed up on and completed and solutions are fully implemented.Coordinates and administers company safety programs to include, but not limited to, the Injury and Illness Prevention Program, Emergency Action Plan & Evacuation Procedures, Hazard Communication, Forklift Safety, and Accident & Injury Response and Procedures.Develops a Site Safety Management Plan (SMP) to ensure a safe working environment for all company employees, contractors, visitors, and the community.Regularly audits the SMP for compliance and updates it to ensure alignment with laws and regulations.Provides appropriate safety training to new hires.Posts safety announcements and guides on company-approved bulletin boards throughout the plant.Lead or assist with accident or near miss investigations to determine root cause and corrective actions.  Ensure all accidents and near misses are reported and documented. Lead the safety committee, schedule safety committee meetings and detail focus areas and areas that have room for improvement. Ensure documented safety concerns are addressed.   Assist with Post Injury Management with Return-to-Work interactive process with injured employee(s), supervisor and HR Manager. Regularly reviews all applicable legislation and applicable standards to ensure company compliance.Informs management of any new legislative matters which could impact production.Inspect and evaluate workplace environments, equipment and practices, to ensure compliance with safety standards and government regulations.Keep up-to-date on all company safety policies, OSHA, and other regulatory standards.Ensure that all safety equipment is properly maintained, inspected, calibrated and repaired or put out-of-service as necessary.Other duties as assigned.  Qualifications: High School Diploma or equivalent certificationBachelor’s Degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Human Resources, or related field preferred but not required. Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) is highly desired.Minimum of 5 years of Health and Safety experience requiredMinimum of 3 years of supervisory experience requiredProficiency in Microsoft Office suiteAbility to speak, read, and write EnglishGood verbal and written communication skillsBilingual (Spanish) preferred Good math skillsCan perform the functions of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation  As a salaried position with the company, you may be required to travel at some point to other facilities, to attend Company events, or as a representative of the Company in other situations.
