The Safety Supervisor leads all environmental, health, and safety (EHS) efforts at our manufacturing site, with a focus on compliance, prevention, and culture. This role ensures full adherence to OSHA (29 CFR 1910 – General Industry Standards) and applicable environmental regulations, while actively partnering with site leadership to embed safety into day-to-day operations. The Safety Supervisor drives training, incident prevention, audits, and employee engagement initiatives, serving as a visible and influential safety leader across the facility to maintain a “Safety First” culture.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES

OSHA Compliance & Safety Program Management

Develop, implement, and sustain site safety programs in compliance with OSHA, EPA, and company policies (e.g., LOTO, HAZCOM, PPE, confined space, machine guarding, and respiratory protection).Stay up-to-date with changes in OSHA regulations and ensure company policies and practices are revised and communicated accordingly.Manage environmental programs including hazardous waste, stormwater, emissions reporting, and permitting as needed.

Training & Certification

Develop and deliver required OSHA-compliant training programs for employees, including annual refresher courses, new hire orientation, forklift and equipment certification, and job-specific hazard training.Maintain training matrices and records for all employees to ensure certifications are current and properly documented.

Workplace Inspections & Audits

Conduct routine safety inspections, ergonomic evaluations, and equipment assessments to identify risks and ensure regulatory compliance.Monitor machine guarding, ergonomic practices, chemical storage, and PPE usage for compliance with OSHA standards.Follow up on findings to verify completion of corrective actions.

Incident Investigation & Reporting

Lead investigations into injuries, near-misses, and unsafe conditions; identify root causes and ensure corrective actions are implemented and documented.Manage OSHA recordkeeping and reporting (300, 300A, 301 logs), including regulatory submission deadlines and readiness for agency audits.Track and analyze incident trends to develop proactive safety initiatives.

Safety Culture & Leadership

Chair the monthly Safety Committee, encouraging participation, identifying safety concerns, and driving corrective actions.Promote a “Safety First” mindset through employee engagement, awareness campaigns, and recognition of safe behaviors.Collaborate with managers and supervisors to ensure safety accountability at all levels.

Documentation & Regulatory Recordkeeping

Maintain all safety documentation, including OSHA-required postings, inspection checklists, SDS (Safety Data Sheets) management, and safety-related signage.Ensure compliance with all OSHA recordkeeping requirements and readiness for inspections or audits.

 KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

Expert knowledge of OSHA General Industry Standards (29 CFR 1910) and ability to interpret and apply regulations in a manufacturing environment.Strong understanding of hazard identification, industrial hygiene principles, and incident prevention strategies.Proficiency in conducting root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions.Skilled in delivering engaging safety training to diverse audiences, including bilingual groups.Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to lead, coach, and influence across all levels of the organization.Proficiency with safety management systems and tools for training, tracking, and reporting.

EDUCATION, CREDENTIALS & EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, Risk Management, or related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience).Minimum of 3+ years of experience in occupational health and safety within a manufacturing environment.OSHA 30-hour General Industry certification required (or ability to obtain within 6 months).Professional certifications such as CSP (Certified Safety Professional), ASP (Associate Safety Professional), or MESH (Manager of Environmental Safety and Health) preferred.Bilingual (English/Spanish) highly desirable.

VI. Physical Requirements & Working Environment

Must regularly conduct safety walkthroughs in manufacturing environments (70% plant presence, 30% office-based).Ability to stand, walk, climb, and inspect equipment and work areas; occasional lifting of up to 10 lbs.Frequent exposure to production floor conditions (heat, noise, moving machinery) with required PPE.
