Onsite This role is categorized as onsite. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Romulus, Michigan on a full-time basis.
The Role
The Safety Supervisor is responsible for managing and mentoring the Romulus leadership team to support implementation of safety processes. In this role you are responsible for analyzing and identifying strategies for a site that align with company strategies. This role will have the ability to collaborate cross functionally across all levels of a site or region to lead and engage resources. This position often requires high level of communication skill to influence others within the organization to accept new concepts, practices, and approaches, where influences do not align. The ability to identify when something is likely to go wrong and reacting accordingly to bring up or engage the right resource to initiate problem solving is critical. What You'll Do
Leads a team of Safety professionals to support a site and/or region in the implementation of Safety processes.
Develops valuable strategic direction that drives successful execution of Global Workplace
Safety Supervisor is responsible for coordinating/directing health & safety activities for facility or functional areas to eliminate industrial accidents
Advise management on continued development of safety and health culture
Provide direction, trains, develops and evaluates employees
Assist in the implementation and interpret the safety and health provisions of local and national labor agreements.
Facilitate the investigation of accidents and/or injuries: conduct safety audit, surveys, and inspections to verify compliance levels
Maintain awareness of state and federal safety regulations; corporate policies and procedures regarding safety and industrial health
Develop and implement programs to reduce job related injuries
Meet with local union representative and lead in resolution of safety matters
Review and approve new equipment and methods for potential hazards
Analyze safety statistics and develop recommendations
Provide technical guidance to management on Health & Safety issues
Participate in Health & Safety committees
Maintain positive relationships with local union leadership and management
Accompany compliance officers and prepare required data
Demonstrate complete job knowledge and understanding of assigned work area
Strong interpersonal skills in facilitation, negotiation, and conflict resolution
Your Skills & Abilities
5 plus years of Safety related experience
Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Safety/Industrial Hygiene / related discipline
Strong interpersonal skills in facilitation, negotiation, and conflict resolution
Ability to work independently, take initiative, and work to plan
Well developed analytical, organizational, and project management skills
Well developed written and verbal communications skills
Well developed use of HR Systems and Computer Software Application skills
