Job Overview:  

The Safety & Regulatory Specialist plays a key role in ensuring the safety and environmental compliance of our organization. You will be responsible for identifying risks, implementing safety programs, and maintaining policies that comply with local, state, and federal regulations.

Responsibilities:

Safety Program Implementation: Develop, implement, and maintain EHS programs to ensure a safe and healthy workplace for all employees. Risk Assessment: Conduct regular workplace inspections and audits to identify potential hazards. Recommend corrective actions and track progress on mitigating risks. Compliance: Ensure company operations comply with all federal, state, and local environmental, health, and safety regulations. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of regulatory changes and ensure proper reporting and documentation. Training & Education: Develop and deliver training programs on topics including safe work practices, hazard communication, emergency response, and environmental stewardship. Incident Investigation: Lead investigations into workplace accidents, injuries, and environmental incidents. Recommend corrective actions and assist in implementing solutions to prevent recurrence. Reporting & Documentation: Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, incidents, and compliance reports. Ensure the completion of required safety documentation and regulatory reports. Sustainability & Environmental Stewardship: Promote sustainable practices in the workplace and identify opportunities to reduce the company’s environmental impact. Collaboration: Work with other departments (HR, Operations, etc.) to integrate safety and environmental practices into daily operations. Emergency Preparedness: Develop, review, and implement emergency response plans and procedures. Ensure that employees are adequately prepared for emergencies and hazardous situations.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, or a related field, or equivalent experience. 3-5 years of experience in an EHS role, preferably in the retail industry. Knowledge of local, state, and federal environmental, health, and safety regulations (e.g., OSHA, EPA, etc.). Certification in EHS-related fields (e.g., Certified Safety Professional (CSP), OSHA 30 Certified), is preferred. NFPA Certification is a plus. Ability to analyze data, generate reports, and make recommendations based on findings. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with employees at all levels. Experience in local and state permit processing is a plus.
