As Safety Offer you are responsible for ensuring a safe working and learning environment on Center for all students and staff. You interpret and evaluate Center’s safety policies and procedures and uses proper judgment and discretion to avoid health and safety problems.

The Phoenix Job Corps Center provides students with the opportunity to earn their High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED), and hands-on training in the various trades like Certified Nurse Assistant, Clinical Medical Assistant, Medical Administration Assistant, Security and Protective Services, Cement and Masonry, Carpentry, and more.

Position Duties Include:
May supervise and manage staff as required.
o Follows all integrity guidelines and procedures and ensures no manipulation of student data.o Maintains a safe Center environment, in compliance with all local, State and Federalguidelines.o Responsible for overall coordination and execution of the Center’s safety program and preparingand implementing the Center’s occupational safety and health plan.o Provides orientation and training to students and staff on safety and health topics and developsafety campaigns on Center to reduce accidents and injuries.o Prepares the center to ensure positive safety and health inspections.o Inspects all center areas for safety and health violations and advise the Center Director ofconcerns.o Ensure that personal protective equipment is worn in classrooms and compliant with OSHAstandards and coordinate occupational health and safety with Center’s departments andtraining offerings.o Completes all required accident and injury reports in full compliance with the PRH, OSHAregulations, and company policies.o Facilitates and document required occupational safety and health committee meetings; retainmeeting minutes for 3 years and make them available upon request.o Produces quality work and completes assignments in a thorough, timely and accurate manner.
o Maintains appropriate personal attendance, accountability and work productivity standards.o Plans, prioritizes and organizes assignments to meet established goals and deadlines.o Understands and applies job knowledge to effectively complete all required job responsibilities.Proactively maintains the skills required to perform job duties.o Mentors, monitors and models the Career Success Standards as required by the PRH.o Provides high-quality supervision and management for the student population. Takes swift andappropriate action and positively influences student behavior. Shows respect and courtesy tostudents and holds them accountable for their actions and behavior.o Provides quality programs and services for students and ensures that quality is maintained andstudent needs are met. Pursues improvement and enhancement of programs and services.o Exchanges ideas and information, both orally and in writing, in a clear and concise manner andcontributes meaningfully to group efforts by offering relevant ideas and knowledge. Providesquality and timely information to DOL/Company when requested.o Effectively articulates thoughts and ideas. Identifies problems, analyzes causes and evaluatesappropriate solutions prior to taking or recommending actions. Follows up to ensureprompt/appropriate action is taken and that problems are in fact corrected.o Works in partnership with staff from all Departments to ensure effective supervision andservices are provided to students.o Accepts direction and supervision from the Center Director/Center Duty Officer/Shift Managerto include assignments to temporarily perform job responsibilities of other departments andpositions.o Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
+ High School diploma or equivalent required.
+ Associate of Arts degree from an accredited school preferred.
+ A minimum of one year experience in safety management or related field required.
+ OSHA Certification required.
+ Must possess a valid in- State Driver’s License and meet Company insurability requirements.
+ Physical requirements include sitting, standing, climbing, walking, lifting, pulling and/or pushing, carrying, reaching, stooping and crouching. Demonstrates the ability to lift 40 pounds and / or the ability to assess the lift load in order to ask for necessary assistance.
