Safety Manager
Job Description We are seeking an experienced Safety Manager to lead and develop safety initiatives across a complex industrial manufacturing facility. This role requires a hands-on leader with a proven track record in managing safety teams and driving continuous improvement in safety culture. The facility includes both plywood (400450 employees) and lumber (under 100 employees) operations, each with unique challenges and needs. Day-to-Day Responsibilities: Lead and manage the safety department, including two direct reports (Safety Coordinators). Maintain strong floor presence, engaging with hourly employees and leadership to ensure safety protocols are followed. Conduct safety audits, inspections, and incident investigations. Collaborate with plant leadership and HR to address safety concerns and implement corrective actions. Support and participate in employee training and onboarding programs. Shadowing and training with regional managers during onboarding. Skills and Requirements 3+ years of safety management experience, preferably in industrial manufacturing. Demonstrated ability to lead and develop teams, with examples of coaching and mentoring. Strong interpersonal skills with a contribution-motivated leadership style. Experience in heavy-duty industrial environments with loud equipment and less-than-pristine conditions. CSP certification or equivalent safety credentials. Commitment to continuous education in safety practices. No degree required, but technical screening will assess safety expertise. Background in plywood or lumber manufacturing. Experience in industrial safety over construction safety. Familiarity with multi-site operations or facilities with varied business units.
