Job Description

AECOM is seeking Safety, Health & Environmental Officer II for an onsite role based in Bloomfield, New Jersey.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

Implementing the requirements of AECOM’s Construction Manager’s (CM) EHS Management Plan (EHSMP) and Environmental Health and Safety Plan (EHASP)Support the CM in preparation of Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) in accordance with Client standardsSupport the CM in conducting various training for CM staff including new employee orientations, visitor orientations and Emergency Action Plan trainingReview all EHS related submittals by the Construction Contractor, including, but not limited to, EHASPs, JHAs, monthly reports, asbestos/lead/mercury/PCB management and sampling plans, waste management plans, hazardous waste contingency plans, erosion and sediment control plans, LOTO plans, and stormwater pollution prevent plans to ensure comprehensive oversight of all site activitiesDirect the Construction Contractor to prepare JHAs following the Client’s JHA EHS StandardsFacilitate monthly EHS meetings with the Construction Contractor’s EHS representative ("EHSR"), and other project management personnel as appropriate, to ascertain and discuss upcoming construction activity and EHS-related activities for the site to monitor that the contractor is adequately identifying and addressing the EHS risks and hazards of the workConduct frequent construction site visitsTrack and monitor the Contractor’s compliance with EHASP(s) and JHA(s)Track and monitor all site EHSRs’ performance including, but not limited to, reviewing the EHSR’s daily reports and whether EHS issues are being adequately addressedPerform and submit daily reports of the Contractors’ Work areas and document non-compliance with the Contractor’s EHASPs and JHAsReview Contractor’s incident reports for adequacy, participate in meetings related to construction related incidents, and verify all necessary Contractor corrective actions are implementedSubmit EHS monthly status reports and metrics. Prepare monthly trending analysis of Contractor EHS performanceOversee Emergency Action Plans (EAPs) and drills for the site in coordination with Client staffReview and manage all EHS Annual Reports (i.e., EPCRA, Hazardous Waste, Confined Space)Provide certified petroleum bulk storage ("PBS") and chemical bulk storage ("CBS") tank operators in compliance with the most recent New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection’s regulations, as applicable, if tank systems must be operated during start-up

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

BA/BS in Safety, Engineering or related degree + 6 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or educationAssociate Safety Professional (ASP) or Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST) certifications or acceptable equivalent 

Preferred Requirements

Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) or Certified Safety Professional (CSP) certification10 years of relevant EHS field and management experience in constructionOSHA 10-hour Construction Health and Safety Course (30-hour Preferable)Initial and Annual Refresher OSHA 29 CFR 1910.120/1926.65 HAZWOPERExperience in OSHA 29 CFR 1926 and 1910 RegulationsExperience in New Jersey State regulations
