Job Description

OVERVIEW/BASIC FUNCTION:

The Purchasing Manager for Rosewood Amaala, located along Saudi Arabia’s pristine west coast, is responsible for overseeing all procurement activities to support the resort’s operations, including food and beverage, housekeeping, engineering, and other departments. This role ensures the acquisition of high-quality goods and services that align with Rosewood’s ultra-luxury standards and Amaala’s commitment to sustainability, holistic well-being, and regenerative tourism. The Purchasing Manager will lead a team to manage supplier relationships, optimize costs, and ensure timely delivery of supplies while prioritizing eco-friendly and locally sourced products. The role demands strategic thinking, negotiation skills, and a focus on sustainable procurement practices.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Oversee all procurement activities, ensuring the timely and cost-effective acquisition of goods and services that meet Rosewood’s ultra-luxury standards. Lead, train, and motivate the purchasing team, fostering a culture of efficiency, collaboration, and accountability to support seamless resort operations. Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, negotiating contracts to secure high-quality products at competitive prices while prioritizing sustainability and local sourcing. Manage the purchasing budget, controlling costs for supplies, equipment, and services while maintaining quality and aligning with financial targets. Implement sustainable procurement practices, such as sourcing eco-friendly products, reducing packaging waste, and prioritizing local vendors, in line with Amaala’s environmental stewardship goals. Collaborate with culinary, housekeeping, engineering, and other departments to understand their needs, ensuring inventory aligns with operational demands and guest expectations. Ensure compliance with Rosewood brand standards, local regulations, and ethical procurement practices, maintaining transparency in all purchasing activities. Utilize procurement and inventory management systems to track purchases, monitor stock levels, and streamline operations, minimizing waste and shortages. Conduct market research to identify new suppliers, innovative products, and cost-saving opportunities that enhance the resort’s offerings and sustainability efforts. Drive continuous improvement through supplier performance evaluations, process optimization, and feedback analysis to enhance procurement efficiency and support guest satisfaction.

QULIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Hospitality Management, or a related field; certifications in procurement (e.g., CPSM, CIPS) are highly desirable. Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in purchasing or supply chain management, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role within a luxury hotel, resort, or high-end hospitality environment. Strong negotiation skills and expertise in sourcing high-quality goods, with a focus on luxury hospitality standards and cost optimization. Proficiency in budgeting, cost control, and inventory management, balancing financial efficiency with operational excellence. Familiarity with procurement software and inventory management systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or similar) to streamline operations and ensure accurate tracking. Fluency in English is required; proficiency in Arabic or additional languages
