Registered Veterinary Technician- Overnight Emergency RVT
At VCA West Los Angeles Animal Hospital, we pride ourselves on providing advanced specialty and emergency veterinary care with compassion and excellence. We are currently seeking a highly skilled Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) to join our Overnight Emergency Anesthesia team. This position is essential in providing critical anesthetic support during overnight hours and plays a vital role in workflow within our Emergency and Critical Care department.
Location: 1900 S Sepulveda Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90025
Compensation: $ 36 – 40 / hr, dependent on education, experience, credentials, location, nature of practice, schedule, and additional responsibilities.
Position Requirements:
+ Active RVT Certification
+ Attend and complete a 3-month anesthesia training program within our Anesthesia Department prior to transitioning to the overnights.
+ Provide anesthesia induction, monitoring, and recovery for urgent and emergent surgical procedures
+ Perform high-level technical tasks including IV catheter placement, venipuncture, and restraint
+ Utilize advanced monitoring equipment (ECG, capnography, blood pressure, temperature, SPO2)
+ Collaborate with ECC and CCU teams to support overnight caseload and workflow
+ Contribute to triage, patient admission, and patient transfers when not engaged in anesthesia cases
+ Maintain clear and professional communication across departments and shifts
+ Effectively delegate tasks to the incoming team at shift end with clarity and respect
+ Remain composed and focused in a high-stress, fast-paced environment, with the ability to multitask and prioritize
+ Support and help maintain anesthesia department tasks, inventory, and equipment
+ Be open to mentorship and guidance from department leaders and engage in ongoing training
+ Share ideas, feedback, and concerns with hospital leadership in a constructive, solutions-focused manner
+ Partner with the management team and staff to improve workflows and ensure best hospital practices
+ Ability to excel in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
+ Passion for Veterinary Medicine and commitment to the highest standards of patient care
+ Strong team player with a desire to share knowledge and support peers
+ Education: Associate degree preferred
+ Veterinary experience: 3 years (Preferred)
