Siemens Mobility has a fantastic opportunity for a Rolling Stock Engineer to join our growing Engineering team. The Rolling Stock Engineer – Electrical, will provide engineering leadership, supporting a variety of train systems, which includes electrical traction and control, collection equipment, air and break systems and HVAC systems, as well as supporting tendering exercises for the introduction of new Rolling Stock to the UK Network. As part of the Central Engineering Team, you will provide expert level support to achieve effective fleet performance and life cycle costs throughout the Rolling Stock business.
You’ll make an impact byUndertake investigations of local and multi-fleet engineering issuesMitigate associated engineering risks related to safety and technical issues ensuring no additional risks are imported to the operational railwayLead investigations into Safety Related Defects / Technical IncidentsDevelop modification procedures required to improve safety and performance issuesProvide engineering expertise to support the development of maintenance optimization, component overhaul and repair regimes. Utilizing standard engineering toolsProduction of specifications for engineering activitiesProduction of risk assessments and business cases to support engineering recommendations as requiredMonitor industry practices to identify processes, maintenance and material changes that will improve rolling stock performance and achieve business objectivesElectrical systems engineering workstreams
Your success will be grounded by
Proven experience of rolling stock maintenanceRelevant Engineering qualification or equivalent experienceExperience of Rail Vehicle Engineering and/or R&DPrevious experience of writing engineering documentation, technical reports, overhaul and maintenance instructions.Good communication skills written & oralGood knowledge of IT systems/softwareElectrical based system knowledge
