Quanex is looking for a Roll Mill Operator to join our team located in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

Typical Schedule: Monday-Thursday 2:30pm-1:00 am.

This position entails operating a rolling mill and cutting balance channels per prioritization of factory orders.

What Success Looks Like:

Receives order and sets machine according to factory order specifications Loads and unloads coiled steel according to order specifications Performs quality checks on a consistent basis Loads cut channels onto carts according to order prioritization Assists in maintaining machines and equipment Runs punch press efficiently Stamps channels and other specials as necessary Cleans and organizes work area Keeps manager aware of steel supplies Assists in production inventory Performs other duties as assigned

Your Credentials:

High school diploma or equivalent Background in a manufacturing or production environment helpful Good mechanical ability Some machine operator experience Ability to add, subtract, divide, and multiply numbers Must be able to use measuring tape Must be able to work with a computer/pro scale Must be able to stand, bend, and reach with hands and arms Must be able to see numbers stamped on channels and have good hand-eye coordination The work performed is conducted in a climate-controlled facility with moderate noise levels that are within OSHA limits. PPE requirements include the use of hearing protection while mill is in operation, safety glasses, and steel-toed shoes.

The hourly rate of pay for this position $18.00/hr plus $1.25/hr shift premium for the 2nd shift.
